Very bad experience.

Overall my experience with Metro Exteriors was not a good one. When I signed the contract I made it clear that the truck needed to be able to get down the full length of my driveway in order to clear the snow away from the garage doors. I live in the city where a single lane driveway widens to 2 car garage. I explained that I park in the right side of the garage and I was told it wouldn't be a problem for them to clear the snow in front of that part of the garage. The first snow of the season they came and made one pass only as far as the side door. When I called I was told that the truck was too big to fit past the overhang at the side door. The next time they came they were able to make it all the way down the driveway and clear the snow in front of the entire garage. One afternoon around noon I called because they hadn't been there yet and there was clearly more than 3" of snow. I was told that there wasn't 3" of snow and that people usually don't gage it correctly and that 3" was the length of a credit card. I measured the snow with a tape measure and it was at 5". The picture below captures the morning of February 27, 2008 where I had started to shovel while I was waiting for the plow to show up. When the plow truck arrived I was outside with the garage door open. He made a single pass pushing the snow in front of the garage door and then backed out and left. I immediately called Metro Exteriors and was told there was no way for him to contact the driver to have him come back. I called a couple more times and then emailed this picture with no response. In the Spring, they never came back and repaired the damage to my lawn as it stated in my contract.

They only come when there is at least 3'' of snow, per normal snow plow contracts. According to the owner, that would be the length of a credit card. In actuality, the length of a credit card is over 3.25 inches. We are used to companies coming when it is around 3'', not being so stringent and literal in their measurements, so be forewarned. They make one lane, even though the driveway flares out wider in one area. When they make one lane, they have blocked in the side door with snow. My take is that they do the minimum possible. This might work for some people, but we would not use them again.
