Ken's Neat Moving & Storage

We got quotes for moving our office, and Ken's was competitive. We offered to have them in to look at the furniture which they declined. We sent pictures of it. On the appointed day the crew arrived, took one look at our large and heavy furniture and said they needed more people and could not do it that day. That was a Saturday - we intended to spend the weekend moving into our new office. I changed my plans and met them the next day. They moved the furniture, but were more concerned with speed than care. They scratched and damaged my cherry desk. Then they charged us several hundred dollars more than they quoted us. They even charged us $125 for the Saturday when they only showed up and told us they couldn't do it! When we complained and had the owner come out to see it, he said he had to "think about" refunding us even for the Saturday charge! Think about refunding a charge for showing up unprepared and leaving again? I will never use them again and recommend no one else does either.

Crew arrived unprepared and without proper promised equipment for the move. Move was done quickly but in an extremely haphazard fashion. The crew clearly did not use blankets to protect furniture when stacking in the truck as numerous pieces were severely scratched, gouged and broken. Things were clearly loaded carelessly. Upon arrival, despite proper labeling (ie. living room, master bedroom, etc.) items were just placed in the house all over - mainly in the living room.

They were very polite, courteous, and helpful.

I called them and explained my situation and they agreed that they could do it. They were 4 1/2 hours late, which totally screwed up my move. They did not want to go back to finish the move because they said they worked too long. They had a refrigerator that they had taken all apart and they decided they couldn't get it in my basement so they just left the pieces in the garage and they left. The crew was okay but the owner was a jerk. The price was competitive.

I schedule the second part of the move. The workers were sullen and slow. When a door and hand rail needed to be removed, they told me I had to do it; they had no tools. They ripped the fabric on a sofa and scratched the top of our antique buffet. When they finished, I wrote a check for the move and the lead mover handed it back to me saying they only accepted cash. I explained that "Ken" had not given me an estimate for this part of the move, and that I had been paying for storage with checks. The mover said if I didn't give him cash, he would go in the house and put everything back on the truck. I said he couldn't do that. He said he would call the police claiming the police would allow him to do this. Instead of getting the police involved and needing to get them off my property, my wife and I went to an ATM and withdrew cash from 3 different accounts. We were concerned that they would come back after dark and try to do us and/or the house harm. We were glad to be rid of them.
