Ryan was extremely responsive, courteous, professional and accommodating with the tight deadline we were facing. He explained in detail what he would do and the time it would take. The only disappointment was that the results in two of the bedrooms were not as I had expected (patches, stains still remained, some scratches still visible). It was only after the fact that I learned that the etching method can only do so much. However, when I voiced my disappointment to Ryan he immediately arranged for a re-application and when I couldn't be there when he left he left a note explaining what he had done and possible outcomes. The results were better than the first attempt but still not as satisfying as I had envisioned. I am pleased with my experience with Ryan, would highly recommend him and his services and would even hire him again. The only advice I would give customers is to better manage one's expectations of the outcome. Etching is a good alternative to sanding only if the wear and tear on the floors are not heavy (in this case there is no substitute for sanding).

Flower City Refinishing did a fantastic job. They responded quickly to my email request for estimate. Provided, based on my description, a price of $1.25 per square foot but indicated they would need to see the floors in person and measure. Made it out quickly to complete the estimate. We had some areas of high wear/discoloration. They were upfront in indicating that these areas of discoloration will likely still show, but the effect should be muted and overall end result should still be good. The estimated price was accurate. We appreciated the honesty and decided to move forward anyways because the price compared to a full sanding and refinishing job was so good and we were very price sensitive. In addition the fact there would be no dust/mess was another plus. We quickly setup a time for the job (two full coats) and it was completed in about 6-7 hours (a little longer than usual because it was a humid day). We were pretty much immediately able to walk over it with socks but decided not to push it and stayed off the surfaces longer to allow more time to strengthen. Because there were areas of hardwood in the living room and a bit in the hallway that were so worn and un-level (PRIOR to any of the coasts applied by Flower City) we actually had a 3rd coat applied to these areas and the end result was a smooth as glass finish. There were still some areas of discoloration like they said, but they prepared us well and the result was even better than we expected. Customer service was fantastic. They really did everything they could to ensure we were satisfied and my wife was thrilled with the job (bonus for me!). I would highly recommend them for any work. Keep your expectations in check if you have really worn floors as this service doesn't do a full sanding of the floors, but this can also be the perfect choice if you don't have enough wood above the nail-heads to handle a full sand.

Flower City Refinishing re-finished our oak stairs as a subcontractor to our primary. Did a thorough and detailed job, even around all the rungs of the stairway. Would hire them again.
