I purchased the vehicle from for new brakes and tires. I have enjoyed my
service at Doan Dodge until this experience. My oil changes for a set number
had been purchased in the purchase and the experience was always fast and
professional. However, when I needed new brakes, rotors and tires at their
suggestion. I scheduled the appointment and the total cost came to about
$1,100.00.
I received this work on January 18, 2016 and spent about
three weeks trying to get my service guy on the phone again. My tires were
making a squealing noise when driving and it would go away when the brakes were
applied. After leaving several voice messages and finally reaching somebody on
the phone. I made them schedule an appointment.
I told my husband that I knew their response ?Nothing is
wrong and we can?t hear any squealing.? Of course my Terrain has been squealing
for going on the past three months. It is embarrassing that friends can now
hear me coming down the street and Doan Dodge has come to the conclusion that I?m
making up the story.
I will NEVER spend money at Doan Dodge because of this lack
of customer service. The manager of the Service Department told me they were
short staffed and that was the reason for the lack of communication. Then he
told me that my service guy was out sick for what had to have been a month of
me trying to schedule an appointment. If you have work completed by Doan Dodge,
Good Luck getting a response to call and don?t bother leaving a voice message.
I purchased a brand new 2014 Jeep Cherokee from Doan in Dec.2013. Within two days a strange vibration noise started coming from somewhere in the dash area of the vehicle. I scheduled an appointment to have it looked at. At the end of the day they looked at it, I was told it was my sunglasses in the overhead sunglass holder. I picked up the vehicle and within a couple of days the noise started again. I took it back. They tore the dash apart added some insulation and told me I was good. "Not"...two weeks go by and I am back again. The saga continued for several months for a total of 5 times back to the dealership. I was told no way on the Lemon Law and so on. I had to argue to get them to give me a rental. On the third time I hit them hard, but truthfully, on the service survey that is emailed to you after a service call. The service manager called me at home and literally bitched me out for having done so. Well after the fifth time and about 8 months, they finally put enough insulation and a new heater box in got it to where you could barely hear the noise. I asked for some compensation for the loss time of the vehicle. NOTHING.
So two years later, I trade the vehicle in on a Kia. I had an extended warranty on the Jeep. I was told by the Kia dealership to take the sales contract and mileage statement to Doan and cancel the extended warranty and I would get a prorated portion of the money I paid for the warranty directly from Doan. I did as I was told. On 11/16/15, I met with the finance manager of Doan and gave him the documentation Kia told me to provide them with. The manager told me that I need a lien release before he could do anything. I told him that I wouldn't have a lien release because the bank issues them to the buyer, the Kia dealership, and not me. This is obviously something he knew. He said there was nothing he could do for me without it. So, I called the bank the next day and ordered a copy of it. Of course the bank, ESL, said they never heard of such a thing but did so anyway and three weeks later I took the lien release to Doan and gave it to the finance manager. I asked him how long it would be when I would receive a check. He said 6-8 weeks. I told him that I cancelled the policy on 11/16/15, and asked why it would still be 6-8 weeks. He looked up my file and corrected himself and said that I was right so it would only be 4-6 weeks. He also approximated my refund to be around $1000.00. Nine weeks later, I still didn't have a check. I called Doan and was told by a manager that he would look into the matter and get back to me that day. NOPE. No call back. I waited three days and called again. This time I was told by someone in finance that I needed to speak with the finance manager but he wasn't available and that he would speak with him and get back to me the following day. NOPE. No call back. I wait three more days before I call again but before doing so, I call the warranty company in Georgia and inquire as to what percentage of what I paid for the warranty I should receive. I was told 58%. I was also informed that they had received the cancellation from Doan on 11/16/15 and that I should have already received my refund. So, I call the dealership and speak with someone in finance who swears he will look into the matter himself and get back to me later that day. Well, kudos to him because he does. He said that the check was cut on 1/15/16, ironically the date of my second call to the dealership, and that it was sent out the same day. I didn't get the check until 1/25/16 and the amount wasn't even close to the 58% that the warranty company said I was entitled to. I called the warranty company back and verified the amount I should be receiving. The warranty company said that they had no idea where the amount Doan had come up with and that I needed to speak to the accounts payable supervisor from the dealership and complain. The warranty company also stated that they would be of assistance if I didn't get any help from the dealership. I did as directed and ended up speaking with the general manager of the dealership. He agreed to look into the matter and get back to me. He did so within a few hours and apologized for the error and agreed to issue a new check for the correct amount. He never explained what had happened but during this whole debacle, I spoke with a former employee of Doan's, who said that Doan is notorious for poor service and specifically that the finance department is shady. If I could rate Doan a "Z" on the alphabet scale I would. I will add that my parents recently purchased a Chrylser minivan from Doan, against my advice, and they are already having issues with the service department. They took their van in for warranty service, was told the problem was resolved, but still exists.
I won't take my Dodge back to this location, nor will I purchase my next Jeep from them this coming summer, I'll drive back to Northtown Chrysler Dodge Jeep in Buffalo and buy from Sandy before I even step foot in this place again. Just lucky I love Jeeps so much, because my experience with the dealership (at least the service department) has left a foul taste in my mouth.
