DO NOT GO WITH CLARK! DO NOT GO WITH MAYFLOWER! LOUSY CUSTOMER SERVICE!
I have only given positive reviews on this list but when you deal with a stinker like this one - I gotta warn off others. When you work with Clark - get ready to ride a roller coaster. The easiest part was the pick up. They forgot some items including a dresser mirror which I found during my final walk through before I left the house. Had I not caught - you can bet would be long gone a month later when my furniture was delivered.
They told me they'd have to send a truck to pick it up - meanwhile it was late in the day and I had a 4.5 hour drive ahead of me. I lugged it downstairs and left on the porch. They never confirmed whether or not it was picked up (it was). All our items were placed in storage - awaiting our close.
Their arrangement is they will deliver in a 5 business day window and we needed to pay with a Cashier's Check for the correct amount. What they didn't say is they really don't have to deliver in that window - but they'll give you a whopping $100 for each day they miss their window by while you sleep on the floor and have only the clothes in your suitcase.
Furniture was delivered 10 days after requested date. Some items were missing - later found in a box they had no business being in. No harm - no foul.
Fast forward to 6 months later when I receive an invoice from a collections agency saying the account was past due! Bear in mind - they would not start unloading the truck until we paid them with a cashier's check. I call Clark and was told they normally send an email - my email changed when I moved - but they had my delivery address and my cell phone number - did not notify me they were sending the account to collections. I dug out my receipt for the cashiers check and the signed payment acknowledgement from their driver and emailed them to Clark. All set right? NO - Despite my providing proof I had paid - They had to find out what happened to the money first. They have just notified me after several days they found the money and will send a letter to the credit agency reporting the dept is paid. THE DEBT WAS ALWAYS PAID. THERE WAS NO DEBT! So now I am forced to rely on them to clean up the mess they've created - I have little hope but will check with my attorney once I receive the letter AND check my credit report. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time with these guys.

Clark Moving and Storage (a Mayflower agent in Rochester NY) was
terrific, on the front end, professionalism of sales staff was terrific,
good packers etc. All went well until the furniture arrived at our new
home. Unfortunately there were items that had been destroyed (3) and
some items were missing. Most missing items located and returned within
the year. However we still wait for reimbursement for a large piece of
furniture that was identified (by everyone present at unloading) as
destroyed. Telephone calls remain unanswered.

I was originally quoted a price about twice what I paid. But due to the
excellent crew, the job was done in half the time allotted. Rather than
take more breaks, or dawdle to pad the time, they pounded out the job
and then rebated me for half the quoted estimate.
The crew was efficient and professional. They took care with all my
belongings, and did so with grace and speed. They were all friendly hard
workers, and it was a pleasure to do business with them. I would absolutely recommend Clark, and would not hesitate to hire them again.

The company was courteous and professional from start to finish. All of the people at Clark associated with the move (the person who provided the estimate, the packer, the movers) were very efficient, careful, and courteous. My furniture and goods arrived in El Paso on time and in good condition. This was an ideal moving situation.

Both crews arrived as scheduled and worked quietly and professionally until their tasks were completed. The packing crew was three women who were careful and swift. The four men on the moving crew set to work immediately upon arrival and only stopped for normal breaks. It was a very hot day but it did not seem to slow them down.
The one disappointment was the inability to move the queen bed platform out of the house. This was not totally unexpected as it had been built in the bedroom. When it became clear it was not possible to remove it intact, the crew were very apologetic and looked at alternatives, none of which seemed likely. When we got to the apartment freight elevator it became a bit of a giggle as there was no way it would have been able to fit and it would not even have fit down the hall to its intended destination in the apartment. They were far more upset than we were.
This company presented the high estimate of the three we looked at. We had used them for a previous move - 21 years prior - and had been satisfied then. All the estimates were just that and the job was to be billed on time and fuel. I was concerned that the other estimates might be low and I did not want the job to be hurried to try to bring it in or to be a bad surprise at the end of the day. The only bad surprise, if you can call it that since I had been forewarned, was that they charged my card for the estimate of $3,400 and I had to wait 24 hours for the $1,000 credit to clear through. This brought the job in at the average of the other two estimates.

We did the packing but they did the physical move of all our furniture and belongings. We were generally happy with them. We were able to get a significant discount on their normal rate. They are prompt, they loaded and unloaded efficiently, they were on time, they were able to accommodate our change in schedule at the end. We did have one chair that had a slight break in it but they took care of it quickly. For the most part we had a pretty smooth move, we really didn't have any problems. They loaded it in the time frame they said they were going to, go here to Michigan when they said they were going to, they unloaded quickly, they helped us set up furniture, and they did everything very efficiently.

Rick Stoddard is absolutely a professional class act. Very courteous and friendly, open to suggestion, and accombodating. Pretty much available by cell or leaving message only (he's a busy guy). 3 guys who worked for Clark--one supervisor and 2 high school lugs, then very carefully prepared the house for moving. I'd say they spent a half hour putting down rugs and pads and taping up plastic around everything in sight and taping doors shut etc. Then came the brute strength, but applied very carefully to get the stuff out and get it into the new house. They took paced breaks, sitting around together for 10 or 15 minutes for every hour, but then went back to it and then were even faster than they had estimated. While they were there, a woman from the office called to make sure they were there and everything was to our liking, which it was. That was a nice touch. Overall, we were very pleased with their work, and would definitely hire them again.

Though this is a sponsored event in that the owners are not charging us, employees are payment blind. The movers have always treated all of us with courtesy and professionalism, even when we were sometimes running behind. They have moved our artwork and painted furniture each year for nine years. The movers are different each time but we know we can always count on careful handling and attention to detail.

Rick Stoddard, the sales rep, was professional and has been with the company for 40 years. He lowered the estimate a few hundred dollars when I told him the other two companies came in at lower bids. Although Mayflower was still the highest cost in each category and overall, we were impressed with the company's integrity, reputation and service. Because of a curved driveway, Mayflower said they could not use the huge van and had to use a shuttle--a smaller truck--which cost an additional $881. Rick had previously explained that they might need to use the shuttle and it was included on the estimate. Another company said they would not need to use a shuttle, and a third company was unsure. Ed, the driver, was very kind and helpful. He came out the day before loading the truck to inventory all the boxes and furniture to make moving day go more smoothly. The packers cost $1154 (including the cost of about 80-100 boxes). Total for the move from Rochester, NY to Fort Wayne, IN was $5932 for a 450-mile move of a three-bedroom/two bath ranch house with finished basement and total weight of 8920 pounds, including about 200 boxes (and including the 100-120 boxes we had already packed). All appliances and the entertainment center sold with the house and were not moved. There was damage to one chest of drawers--the frame got bent, so the drawers won't stay on the rollers--and the driver promptly made a note of it, and Clark Mayflower is sending out a damage form to file. The entire staff was professional and pleasant. We made sure to have cookies and bottled water on both ends, which everyone appreciated!

Sales representative provided free wardrobe boxes, and other boxes. He even removed them when done. He was personable and answered any questions. Very responsive to concerns. Actual movers took a few too many coffee/text messaging breaks, but got us to the new home safely. They could have been more considerate of the carpets. Movers were careful with the furniture. Always polite.
