Matt Gordon serviced my toilet plumbing on Fri 12/30. I can honestly say that he was the most kind, professional and informative plumber I have ever worked with. He made sure that I understood what my options were for dealing with my root infiltration. He took all the time necessary to do the work as thoroughly as possible. Matt could not have done a better job in representing AP Plumbing. He is a true caring professional.

This review is not on the repair work but what they charge for their 1 price service work. They charge double than everyone else in Rochester for labor cost. Buyer Beware. On 12/24, I noticed that my shower drain cover is broken. I called AP plumber for a replacement and installation on 12/28. They serviced my broken bathtub drain in 2017 and charge me around $300 total. They did a good job and the price was very reasonable so I decided to use them again. The plumber quoted me $89 for flat service call and $770 for parts and labor ($859 + tax). I cannot stop thinking how much the labor cost jumped in 3 years so I start doing research on the parts and labor cost. I found similar parts for $20 in Home Depot. Figure it would be cheaper since they buy in bulk. The biggest concern is labor cost. The plumber was here for 3 hours. That's $256.67 per hour for labor. When I call few other local plumber companies, they were quoting me around $500 (or $130 for 3 hours) for for the whole job (include the service call). I also check Angieslist, Yelp, BBB (1 star rating) for similar complains. I should have check all three prior to calling them for service again. I decided not post first, I will like to know how they justify charging so much for the labor cost. I call AP plumbing today and received a call backup from them. The guy was very rude and arrogant when I break-down the math of their labor cost. He use a hamburger reference to describe AP plumbing as $30 steak burger and all other plumbing service as McDonald hamburger. They describe their plumbers as master plumber but the one came to my house said that she was trained on the job and completed training recently. She was not a plumber prior. At current time, many people are struggling and it appears that this company's goal is to fleece their customers. Again, buyer beware and avoid this company. Please support other local business that would not rip off customers and charge a fair price for their service and/or products. Update 1/7/2021 The Angie's list reply did not leave a contact name. I just want to post an update of my experience calling AP plumbing again. Lynette R. (AP manager) replies to my Yelp complains online but this company does not really care. I called back multiple times since Monday morning (1/4/2021) and left message for Lynette R. She never responds to my phone calls. Every time I called; she is always in a meeting. Do not trust this company, they do not have any intention to make a situation right.

We had three quotes for replacement of a sewer pipe, after already trying to have it jetted with another company that we called at the time of our emergency. That company didn’t identify the issue and ended up making things worse in the end because the pipe needed to be replaced, not jetted and ended up backing up again, days after I paid $850 to have it jetted...so we started asking for other opinions. I wish I would have called AP plumbing first, who was recommended by my realtor. They were the only company that was so thorough and specific with their quote. They came on Friday morning to do the quote. Paul was fantastic and explained exactly what the problem was and what they needed to do. He got everything set to go with permits, water authority etc and guys started their work promptly on Monday morning. They replaced the whole sewer line from house to street, didn’t have to dig up the whole yard or break through our sidewalk, which other companies said they would have to do. Process was cool to watch too. They made everything as convenient as possible for us and had the job done in two days. They also snaked out our other pipes in the house, and all of this was a very comparable price to other quotes ... but we didn’t have to worry about ripping up our lawn. Bottom line, we trusted AP more right from the start because of their professionalism, how specific and detailed the quote was and they were able to say exactly what they could do worth the budget we had. They did everything to the last detail and went above and beyond. All the guys were wonderful! We are so glad we went with them and would definitely recommend in future. Ps- we had to replace this pipe after only living in our new home for 5 months... would recommend you hire AP plumbing to inspect sewer pipe before you purchase a home!

Merritt was wonderful. He explained everything to me completely. I had a huge water mess and he explained the whole process to me and made a call to the emergency water people for me. He is extremely knowledgeable. Would definitely call them again.

After the first repair my sink actually started leaking worse. AP plumbing did honor the warranty and returned to my home for no additional expense. The person who came to my home was able to show me that the cause of the additional leak was a defective part.

Was told by the gentleman that cleaning the pit was not needed, so I paid $50 fee for no work to be done despite my request. I was also told that if my current pump needed to be replaced, it was currently on sale for over $500 (I currently have the exact same pump that they would put in, and my pump was replaced 3.5 years ago by a different company for $212). About 3 weeks after this, the pump became clogged in the middle of a rainstorm and I was stuck running buckets of water upstairs to dump outside for almost 2 hours. Called them and they came out promptly, but I was charged an emergency fee and also paid over $300 just to have the pump pit scooped out and the pump set up on a pedestal (about 40 min of work). Not to mention, my basement would have flooded had I not noticed this. Very frustrated that the whole situation could have been avoided if the gentleman did what I asked to begin with.

This is the second time we used services from AP Plumbing. Our first experience was very positive so we contacted them again. We did request the same technician but he was no longer with the company. The new technician arrived as promised [same day], did the work professionally and quickly. We were told the cost of the repairs after the technician assessed what would be needed to fix the problems. It was a bit of a sticker shock; but we went ahead with the work because we have company coming to stay with us and were under time pressure to get the work completed quickly. For any future repairs, the estimated cost of the repairs would be a factor in deciding who to hire next time.

I had a horrible experience with AP. I asked Matt, the plumber, several times to leave my house, he would not. It was so bad my dog had to chase him out. The plumber was extremely aggressive with me, doubted my knowledge of my own house and the price was extremely high ($850 for a three piece shower faucet.) I had a leaky shower faucet, he said it was iffy if it could be repaired and I was better off getting a new one, I agreed. He wanted to rip the tile out, I said I would prefer to go thru the back. He did not even consider that. If I had not known we could it, it would have been very costly! That $850 was with me making the access in the back for him or it would have been even more! Matt complained about his co-workers to me and complained about how my plumbing was done and how hard to job would be for him. He slammed his tools around my room and knocking over the boards I had removed bending part of my heat vent. When I called to find out what were Matt's qualifications, I was told I should trust him because they trust him and if he makes a mistake it is covered under a year warranty and that should make me comfortable. After I put Matt's tools on the porch and let him know he was fired, he still tried to come in my house, he told me he had to fill out an invoice. I had to close and lock my door. I told him he could fill it out and leave it on my porch. This is a bad guy. I used them years ago for a main issue and that plumber, Brian Hill, was extremely helpful and courteous. If I have another issue like that I would see if I could get him, but for anything else I will never use them again. I didn't even get an apology. In the end, it cost $350 and no troubles.

They arrived on time and were great to deal with. They were responsive, efficient, and knowledgeable, and were prepared for the job with all necessary equipment. They diagnosed the problem quickly, cleared the clog, and checked the pipe between the house and the street. Throughout the process they kept me informed of what they were doing and why, and they even suggested some maintenance tips to me. The technician, Don Kohler, was informative, personable, and helpful. I would not hesitate to call this company again for any future work I need done, and will recommend them to my associates.

I called AP Plumbing for a Sump Pump emergency. Ours had an issue with it that we could not fix/replace and the water was coming into our basement pretty quickly. AP Plumbing came out at 11:30 at night, and they were done and gone by 1am...without even waking my children! Our repair was a bit on the expensive side but because of what needed to be done, I paid the price for good quality workmanship and the job being done right the first time. It was well worth it because I know absolutely nothing about plumbing.
