He was very professional and very experienced and easy to work with. His price was higher than we would normally pay but it was a nice new home, so we didn't want to take chances.

After the first day of work, I called him with concerns. I talked to him about spots he missed and that he had filled in the spongy areas rather than replacing the drywall. He had an answer for everything. He told me, "There's a method to my madness. Don't worry about it, honey. I know what I'm doing." Since he was a friendly older man and reassured me, I made the mistake and trusted him. He made racist and sexist comments. He was unprofessional and referred to me as "Honey" on several occasions. (I'm a female single parent.) My parents stayed each day while he worked so they could let him in the house (a total of 9 hours for $985! - working out to approximately $100 per hour). On the day he "finished," he left a message on my voicemail the night before to tell me he would complete it the next day and to leave my copy of the contract on the counter so he could mark it paid and a check for $935. (I put down a $50 deposit.) When I got home, the check was gone as well as MY copy of the contract! The areas that I spoke to him about after the first day were still untouched. There were crinkles in the drywall that were supposed to be repaired and he was supposed to feather out where the drywall tape showed through. Also, there was the huge water spot where the previous one had been! I called my mom and she said she inquired about it before he left. He told her it was wet paint. (It was an orange ringed water spot!!) When I called him with my concerns, he lied and said my parents never said anything. I told him I spoke to them. He changed his tune and said, "What area? It was grey and I told her the paint was still wet." I told him that it was an orange ringed water spot. He said that there was no water spot when he left 2 hours earlier He asked, "Where is it? It is probably a new one." He stated that he can't help it if a new one appeared in a different spot. I told him no. It is in the same location as the old big one (he said he would seal the wall so it wouldn't bleed through in his estimate.) When I told him that he hadn't touched the area that was rippled and crinkled that I had spoken to him about, his reply was to argue with me and say there was no area that existed like that when he was there and he can't help it if when he touched up the paint, the wetness rippled the drywall. I told him it was there before he even took the job and had spoken to him about it in my original call with my concerns after the first day! Despite this, he continued to try to insist it wasn't there when he left! He asked how big of an area it was and I said that it was over a foot long. He said he wasn't going to argue about an area "so small" and that he would take care of it. He did a shoddy job, but what was really irritating is that when I called him with my concerns he lied and made excuses! After telling him my concerns twice and told not to worry, there is no way, I'm letting him come back to finish the job and do what it is he told me in the contract that he took that he promised to do. I now have to hire somebody else to repair what he did not do correctly or at all! Have never had such a horrible experience with a contractor in my life! I can understand mistakes, no one is perfect, but his lying, arguing, blowing off my concerns, and unprofessional commenting, is inexcusable!

Never showed up. Called to cancel the first appointment, and then never showed up or called for the next two. Finally got my deposit back after several calls and a complaint to the BBB. Can't judge his work because he NEVER DID ANY!!!

George with American Plaster and Drywall was EXTREMELY unprofessional and I was so turned off by his racist and sexist comments when he was at my house for the estimate. He even took a call from another unhappy customer when he was at my house and after hanging up with them he said horrible things to me about this other customer of his. I was shocked. He also tried to tell me I needed more work done than necessary to try and drive up the cost of the job. I was thankful when he finally left. George quoted me $485 for the work. I had it done by another highly recommended Angie's list company for $325 and was very happy with their work and professionalism.

Well after the jobs were completed, he had me sign off that I was satisfied with the job which threw up a red flag, as the ceilings needed time to dry before you could see the results, but I signed and wished I hadn't later but happened too fast.  Then he ran right to the bank when he left my house and cashed the check, another red flag. So that evening as the ceiling dried I could see bubbling all where the work was performed, yellowing on the ceiling in the foyer where he put the design was bleeding through and as I checked over the ceiling I knew darn well he never even painted them (there were previous spots that had been there that would have been covered if he had). I called him first thing the next morning he came back and I asked him if he painted the ceilings he said yes and I showed him spots he said he would repaint them that the paint must have soaked in (right). Also he touched up the yellowing in the foyer and worked on the bubbling spots on the ceiling repair. He had to come back again the next day to repaint the spots he repaired I showed him the foyer was all yellow again , he told me I could paint it myself and left me the paint(just a nice way instead of telling me he wasn't going to do it).  The wall he repaired is alful! Could have done better myself. He never sanded it just retaped it, plastered it, wiped down and big seam all along the wall.  I am very disappointed because I thought I found someone who seemed to have great reviews that I feel just took my money and took advantage of me. I have 2 dogs so I stayed with them upstairs to keep them out of his way while he worked, so by me trusting him he took shortcuts and I am very unhappy with his work and out almost 1500.$  He had excuses for every problem I showed him,  water damage, even though it was almost 30 years ago, bent rafters in my ceiling is why you can still see all the lines he was supposed to repair, he even said I have a lot of trucks that go by that could shake my house. Its a shame I spent all that money to have to paint a ceiling myself, and have the same imperfections that I had before he ever worked here!

It went  very well.   The original hole in the ceiling is not at all visible  as Mr. St. George matched up the ceiling pattern perfectly and repainted the ceiling.
