American Masonry & Chimney

I hired this company to repair my chimney. John came over, looked at my chimney, and gave me a quote for $2650 for the total cost of the work. When he gave me the quote, it was apparent that the crown and bricks above the roof line had severe cracks and would need to be replaced. He said the job would take two days to complete. After a late start, the job took two and half weeks to complete. During the course of the project, I asked John to please let me know about any additional expenses that would be incurred and the pricing of these. He was very dodgy and wouldn't give me a straight answer. Finally, after the job was complete, he came by and stated that the final price for the work was $7100. He had added line items to his estimate, which we never discussed. Unless you want to be taken advantage of, don't hire this company

Staff was professional and did a good job cleaning up after the work was done.

Had a hard time communicating. All calls go to a call center where I inevitability had to explain that I am in Pittsford, not Pittsburgh. Not sure where they are based out of. Someone came to the house to quote project, but never returned calls or got back to me. Maybe the job was too small for them, but I feel like the entire interaction was unprofessional and generally a waste of my time. Had positive reviews from others, but I won't be going back to them.

American Masonry & Chimney were nice average guys and seemed to know what they were doing. They did a good job. They didn't know how far they would have to go to repair the damage so the repair was little above the estimate. They completed the job in less time than I expected.
