I had AW Britt Co. put on a new roof on my house in 2003  After the roof was done and paid for, I discovered  a water leak around the chimney when it rained. Come to find out, Andy Britt and his crew did not put any flashing around the chimney. I called Andy  and he came over and put tar around the chimney but did nothing about the flashing. Needless to say, it did not fix the problem. After further inspection, I realized he did not put flashing where the porch roof meets the siding. and also, there  was a hole in the fascia beneath the gutters where water poured in during the rain. I called Andy Britt numerous times and he never returned my calls. He had my money and was done with me. I hired a professional roofing consultant for $500 who inspected my roof, provided me with photos and a written report, and said it was one of the "worst roofing jobs he had ever seen." Not only was there flashing missing from around the chimney and porch roof, a hole in the fascia, but the plywood hung over the edges of the roof by 2 inches and the shingles in the valleys was cut the wrong way. I ended up hiring another roofer to repair Andy Britt's work a few months later for $2500. The three roofers that gave me repair estimates said it was the worst roofing job they had ever seen. I continued to have have ice damning in the winters with that roof. This summer, 10 years later, the roof buckled from moisture and  the heat. Contractors said that the plywood was not nailed down well enough and the lack of ventilation and heat caused the plywood to buckle in a few places. Needless to say, I had the roof torn off down to the plywood and had to replace several sheets of plywood that had warped. I would not recommend him and had a very bad experience with his shoddy workmanship all around. He did not return calls and took the money and ran. Very bad experience all around. I was not happy to pay someone else to fix his mistakes or to pay for a brand new roof 10 years later but was glad to get his roof removed and am happy with the replacement done by Graves Brothers.

I had to call him repeatedly before the work was finally done. Then, 2 months later (5/3/11) ..the entire back section of the new roof came right off in a high wind...I called Andy repeatedly and never got a call back...I used a roofer and my son to rush over to Rochester to get this fixed right away. Roofer showed me and my son how this happened...when the gutters were put up, Andy pulled up the roofing, and never put is back down properly..he just laid the roofing down without any re-refastening.I sent the bill for the repair to Andy..he refused to pay it. I sued in my Rochester city court..and won. He has refused to pay the court judgement.

He was terrific.  He only charged me $20 and he fixed it in 2 seconds.  It was really very simple.  He was very friendly, very personable and he loves dogs.  He showed up right away.  I was very, very concerned because we were having 50 mile an hour wind.  I had basically covered the side of my house with a duct tape.

I ended up having to sue him for the cost repairing the damage he did with his shoddy workmanship.

He never paid me the money the court awarded me.

If you want the work done right ...don't use this guy

I reported him to the BBB...but..they will not take a report from someone who has sued already.

I was very happy with the work they performed, their professionalism, respect for my property, and going the extra mile to ensure my satisfaction. The end-result is a home that looks 10 times better than before, is more energy efficient, and now requires much much less maintenance. I recommended AW Britt to a co-worker who had pretty much the same services done and is equally happy with the work performed. I definitely will call AW Britt with future needs, and I highly recommend them to anyone considering residing their home.
