If you want to give your money to a company that values you as a long
standing customer and stands behind their mistakes - as we all must do
when we make the, - THIS IS NOT THE COMPANY FOR YOU!!!!  On two
different days their delivery trucks hit our brand new gate that is less
than 9 months old and they refuse to accept responsibility for the
damage - even though I watched the gate get hit on the morning of March
8th.  Trust me, run from this company and use Love Effron or Dutchess
Oil.  They are true professionals that value customers - 12 years to
Kosco means NOTHING!!!  I will now have to take them to small claims
court or  I have to pay 1,920 to fix the gate.  They lost more than that
from my business if they add up all the money we paid for oil, propane,
service plans, new oil tanks and such.  To add salt to the wounds, the
addressed me as Charles Schultz in their letter stating they will not
accept responsibility.

Follow up. Last night I took Kosco to small claims court in Rhinebeck. I took the day off to drive up and be present and they arrived with a woman who never spoke to me and was shocked that her facts did line up with reality. They also brought their driver who seems very nice and I hate to get him in trouble and then a so self proclaimed expert on accidents. The strangest thing was when I left the hearing,across the street was Mike Berardi sitting in his black truck staring at me - when I started to pull away I could see him get out of his vehicle and walk to the court to speak to the three. Funny how no one I dealt with ever showed up in that courtroom. Cowards sit across the road. Just saying.

I left them and have become a customer of Love Effron!

Unfortunately, Kosco engages in deceptive billings practices. We recently converted our oil burning furnace to a propane burning furnace. I hired a plumber (unaffiliated with Kosco) to run a new gas line from the furnace to the propane tank outside. Kosco told me that because I was having a plumber install the piping there would be No CHARGE for delivering and dropping off the propane tank. After the tank was delivered, Kosco sent me a bill for over $400 for the visit to drop off the tank. When I called to inquire about the charges, the representative from Kosco (who was rude like many of Kosco's representatives) told me that and quot;we don't charge for delivery but of course we charge for the hook up.and quot; Such a deceptive business practice is unbecoming of a company that boasts being a reputable operation and a and quot;leader in comfortand quot; that ensures and quot;peace of mindand quot;. This experience has given me anything but peace of mind. I now intend to switch to a propane delivery company that is honest and up font about its billing practices.

We were not living in this house at the time, but Kosco had noticed that our heating oil usage was about double what we usually use for the house. So they called us and they got someone out right away to fix it.
There was an issue with the pump that sends the hot water around the house. We have a service contract with them, so they didn't charge us anything. That was nice, even though we did have to pay a $1,000.00 oil bill. They've been really responsive. In the past, we had also gone down to our other home in Florida and my neighbor who was there to water my plants found out it was about 40 degrees in the house. So I called Kosco and showed up there that day. They're quite responsive. They may charge a little more than some discount oil places, but I think they're such a good company that it's worth it. We totally trust them.

Company arrived on time and started to pump out old tank. Old tank removed from cellar than split. Door to bulkhead remover so tank could be taken out. New tank installed and filtered oil replaced. Smell from oil minimum. Customer was shown bottom of old tank, signs of leaking starting to show. Tank had been in basement for over 55 years. All salvage removed and tank area clean. Final check of tank, oil line, oil fill piping and new fill level shown and explain to me. A dirty job well done!

They were recommended to me by somebody else. They always answered the phone and were very responsive. They always knew what was going on. I did not have any problems in scheduling things with them. I have not had too many interactions with them. I have used them three or four times and it has been fine. Sometimes, I would not even be aware that they had done the check as the heater was placed outside my house and they don't need any access.

Although we have only been using KOSCO propane for one Winter season thus far, we have been satisfied with their services. We never ran low on propane, there were no delivery fees for refilling and the per gallon propane cost is reasonable for our area. They also offer a means of paying their bill by way automatic deduction from a bank account or credit card. We hope that KOSCO continues this level of service; we look forward to continuing to report back to Angie's list with good news as our tenure with them lengthens.

I will be calling them again to clean my furnace as well. They give you a time frame in which they will be arriving and they have never had to cancel.
