I had a horrible moving experience with these people , I'd give them a zero if I could. I paid $9600 for some packing and moving our belongings to the Rome area . I cannot begin to describe the damage to our furniture , our new Knotty pine walls are all scuffed up . Our tall clock was handled so roughly that it bounced the mechanism apart inside. My tools were damaged - see photos for some examples. I moved those tools twice , by myself with zero damage. There are few pieces of furniture that aren't scratched , dinged , dented or outright smashed. I found our safe with a huge dent in the side. And with all this damage , nobody ever said they were sorry , we'll make it right . They just placed the furniture in the house and acted like nothing happened. Maybe I won't see it until they leave. The day they were loading the truck the driver told me that they don't unload until they are paid in full - and oh bye the way they won't know how much until the next day when they weigh the truck . The bill was $4000 over the estimate I got , the estimator never mentioned this billing arrangement , thank God my credit card wasn't maxed out. At my new house they unloaded all the boxes first and then whined there was no place for the furniture . We ( me and them) had to double handle all the boxes so they could place the furniture which they should have done first. They didn't want to assemble things like beds . They basically just dumped everything in the house and took off. It's taken me months to unpack and set up the house , my wife has back problems so I had to do it all by myself. Now the best part , it's the missing stuff. I have alot of tools missing but also some electrical components for an antique radio restoration that are irreplaceable - gone , not here. I called the company to ask if they may have been left on the truck , nope. When I asked what they were going to do about it - I didn't buy extra insurance so tough luck. The extra insurance only pays so much per pound so if the item is irreplaceable what good is it . And why should I need insurance on them doing the job I hired them to do correctly. If I ever move again I sure as heck won't hire these guys - period!

Mabey's Moving was a great company to work with. This was a corporate relocation, paid for by a third party, so I cannot make a judgement regarding the price of the move. We had two movers come to our out of state home and they also unloaded our items at the end (with the help of a third Mabey's employee). These gentlemen were professional and hard-working. We couldn't believe how quickly they got the job done. The only problem with the move was that Mabey's hired day laborers to do the actual packing of our goods. In addition to the things they were SUPPOSED to pack, they packed a drying rack with wet clothes, our pet carriers, and some dirty dishes from the dishwasher (these things were supposed to be left until the next day). I wish Mabey's had vetted their temporary workers a little better. For the most part, it was a smooth move with nothing lost or broken. I would hire them again.

The move was excellent from beginning to end. The estimator/salesperson was extremely helpful in suggesting a "partial" move and in being able to tell us when we had "filled up" the space at the other end (at the time of the estimate!), so that we would waste money moving items that we couldn't place at the other end of the move. The van was very prompt on the day of the move (12/5/16), and all of our items were out by about noon, with 3 movers; they waited a day to move us in so that we could reach the destination to be there when they arrived. They arrived on time at 8AM and were done by noon, again, but with just 2 movers. Since we had moved less than we originally estimated (due to their input), the cost was about $800 below the estimate. They provided many boxes used in the move from returns to their warehouse, and were very polite when we visited their headquarters. All personnel were pleasant, professional, and punctual at all times, and all commitments were met.

Driver and crew did an excellent job in packing, loading, in Colonie, NY. Driver (not from Maybey's, but Atlas) had issues with Truck which delayed start of move. Albany Crew was excellent even though we did not get fully loaded until early evening. Our issue was on move in at rental home in Asheville, NC, which cost us another $1000 for shuttle service, which caught us by surprise, and was not negotiable. We felt that Atlas had a local office in Asheville, and could have anticipated issues issues in bringing a large moving van into the development that we moved into, versus this being a last minute surprise to the driver and ourselves. The driver had to rent a much smaller U-Haul truck the last minute, park the moving van at a nearby parking lot of a local supermarket, and move our household goods and furniture from the van to the u-haul and then shuttle several loads to our home. The drive and crew did not start delivering and unloading until 2:30pm, and did not complete the move until 10:30PM. We protested the $1000 extra charge which we felt was excessive and non-negotiable, and request for reduced charges was denied by Atlas. We have not heard from Maybey's since we moved, which defeated the purpose of having a large local moving company handling our move. We selected Maybey's Moving based on excellent ratings on Angies List, which now appears to be a major mistake! We have used referral's from Angies List numerous times successfully, but all other services were home improvement type services with a significantly lower price tag. We have moved several times over the years with long distance movers, with a majority of the moves being corporate moves that all went well. However, this is not the case when we moved locally on our own several years ago in Florida, and in this case when we paid for our own move from NY to NC. In both case we had similar experiences, where we felt that were held hostage to additional charges that we either paid or not get moved in. We had some minor damage to furniture on the move in, and put in a claim with Atlas. Atlas sent our a repair person several weeks ago, and we have still not heard back from Atlas on the results. I sent an email to the Atlas claim agent last week regarding our claim, and still have not heard back.

Everything went very well. The packing crew of 3 reported on Thursday and packed items that we did not get to prior to closing on old home. They handled all items including delicate possessions with out any breakage or misplaced items. They were fully booked on our preferred move day of Saturday so stored 2 days and delivered to new home following Monday. We were able to vacate our old home in time for closing with the purchaser. The moving crew was most accommodating in placing furniture and attaching felt pads to bottom of legs to provide protection for new hardwood floors. They worked hard and efficient.

We couldnt ask for more conscientious people. The three m a n crew were fantastic. They were courteous and handled our belongings with the utmost care. They also pointed out some minor damages that had occurred during a previous move Not donkey by Mabeys.
Also we were scheduled to move on 02/09 but because me and my wife were concerned about inclement weather Mabeys was kind enough to reschedule our move to the next day.

Couldn't ask for more. Wonderful job from start to finish. Everything was very well packed, no damage to anything. Office staff, packers and movers polite, efficient and very responsive. On delivery, many boxes and much furniture was put in the cellar. The movers put everything in the cellar so neat and organized. It looks fantastic, so orderly. No complaints at all. Thank you very much.

This company was so did an EXCELLENT JOB! They arrived promptly and were very courteous and efficient. They wrapped up several bulky items that my sister-in-law did not know what to do with. After they were done, they noticed that the trash cans were full and proceeded to drag the heavy cans out to the curb. Since my siser-in-law has bad knees, this was greatly appreciated. My sister-in-law raved about their kindness!

Did a good job for the most part. a few issues (nicked a freshly painted wall, forgot to attach wheels to the legs of a piece of furniture). They were very quick, the whole thing took just a few hours.
Office staff very helpful and professional. I needed to change the date of the move and they handled it with no problems. Would use again.

This is the second time I've used Mabey's - first time back in 2012. The crew of three young men were polite and efficient. They were able to complete the job in 1/2 hour less than the estimate. All of the items, including one heavy piece, were moved carefully. No damage to any items or walls. Hopefully this is the last time I'm moving, but I would not hesitate to use them again. Thank you!
