 + -1 moreI took the TV to Exchange TV on 11/12/2014 to see if it was worth repIring. Gary looked at it and said that he would get back to me. He gave me a quote of $65.00 if no parts were needed and $75.00 if parts were required. I knew that the tuner attachment was broken. Gary called this AM and said that it was fixed. I am very happy with his service.

 + -1 morePicture became distorted. Took it to exchange TV and it worked fine. They monitored it for a week and it worked fine during that time. After they put the back on and before I picked it up the picture became distorted again. They called me immediately, told me what was wrong, ordered the parts, and it now works fine. Great job for a reasonable price. Lots cheaper than buying a new TV.

 + -1 moreGary was very nice,prompt, and professional. I sort of thought it would take 1-2 hours. He was done in less than 30 minutes. It was expensive but so worth it. Not many people around that do that sort of work. TV is 61inch screen and less than 5 years old. I ordered the part. That was $150. I looked on you tube but the job seemed very technical and Gary advised against it. He knew exactly what he was doing. Would've taken me all day and maybe wouldn't have been successful.

 + 0 moreThe installation went great. Gary was very professional as well. He called to let me know that he was on his way. He took his time to install the TV and didn't rush through the process,even though it was a small job. I've gotten a number of appliances from Rensselaer Appliance/Exchange TV. They continue to provide great service. Just so you know, the exterior of this store isn't fancy. But don't let that stop you from shopping there.
Description of Work: Bob was helpful in the store. He didn't pressure me into anything. I appreciated his professional manner. I went to buy a TV for a small space. They had what I was looking for. Bob set up the appointment for installation right away.

 + -1 moreGary was able to come to your house within two days of our initial call. He gave us a two hour window of time when he would be at our house (12-2pm) and told us he would call about 15 minutes before he got to our address. He did exactly as promised, was able to repair the broken cable connection to our TV, and had everything up and running within an hour. The $130 covered the house visit, part and labor.
Description of Work: Made a house call to repair our large CRT television.

Description of Work: Our TV was not working. The company checked everything and did not find any problem other than the connections were not properly installed. .There really was not a problem so the charge to us was just the basic fee. Our son recommended this business as he ha a positive experience also.

 + -1 moreNotwithstanding my unhappiness at having to spend anything at all on such a young electronic appliance, I could not be happier with a service provider who minimized the pain.....quickly and at a reasonable cost. When I do replace 1 of these t.v.'s, I'll be going back to Exchange TV.
Description of Work: What a GREAT experience! My HDTV was not working. I was looking at throwing a $750. (4 yrs ago) 32" lcd tv in the dumpster had I taken the advice of a local, well-known electronic repair service. Now, understand this: I also have a 36" 25 yr old Phillips dinosaur that has never given me a moment's trouble so the spectra of my much newer investment landing in a recycling ctr angered me to a degree. Planned Obsolescence at it's finest. A Pet Peeve of mine. Through Angie's List I encountered Gary at Exchange TV who charged me $50. to trace the not-worth-fixing problem, applicable to any cost of repair, traced the problem to 7 capacitors (a total cost of $172. pts & labor), fixed it in 1 day and I am now somewhat happily watching my hdtv. I'm not at all unhappy with Gary or Exchange TV, quite the opposite. I'm a little unhappy I now have a $925. 4 yr old 32" hdtv, no reflection at all on Gary who saved me from spending $1000. on a new hdtv and provided me with a plethora of hdtv information for free.
