DE Paving & Sealcoating

Their estimate was second lowest of 5 but most importantly, Don's thoroughness and professionalism at the estimate convinced us to contract with them.  The crew showed up exactly on schedule, had the job done when they said they would, and the bill was the same as the estimate, despite all the obstacles detailed above.  These guys are top notch.  They gave us a beautiful driveway and left the yard in better shape than when they started.  We've actually called them for recommendations of contractors for different projects and they've always steered us in the right direction.

The driveway was replaced and looks great (second day).  The workers cleaned up after themselves and were very curtious.  My problem is with the pricing. DE Paving &Excavation came to our house on 4/18 to estimate the job. The rep gave us a $3800 estimate.  He stated that if we wanted DE to do the job that we should mail the estimate to his office and DE would schedule a date for the service.  My husband found a 10% off coupon that we received from the Clifton Park Home Show and sent the coupon to DE with the estimate asking DE to confirm they would do the job for 10% off of the $3800.  We wanted DE to do the job because their rep appeared to be very professional and the estimation paperwork was very professional.  DE never called back and my husband and I had to call them 6 times to finally get confirmation that they would do the job and to get a service date.  Whenever we called the office we would get an answering machine or the receptionist would tell us that we had to wait for her boss to call us back because she did not have any information.  I ended up calling and leaving a message stating that it was not professional to not call a customer back. After leaving that message I got a call later that evening with a service date.  The service date did change to 5/24 due to the weather. The DE workers arrived 1 hour later than DE stated.  The workers were very curtious and cleaned up after themselves.  I have no issues with their work.  Once the work was done, I called the DE office to discuss the payment arrangements (Do I give the check to the workers? Do I mail it in? Do I give the check to the rep?) The DE rep who originally estimated the job answered the phone and this is when he told us "By the way, I FORGOT to call you back and tell you that the $3800 already included the 10% off so you owe us $3800."  As opposed to $3420.  He then went on to say that "the lady up the street backed out of the job and if I gave you the 10% off, I would be doing the job for nothing".  The DE paperwork that I have does not say anything about the 10% off already being included in the estimate!!  So basically, DE Paving did not honor their own 10% off coupon and by mentioning this other job, the DE rep made it appear that my 10% off was dependent on getting another job in the same area.  Again this is not stated on the 10% coupon!!

WE HAVEN'T HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THEM AT ALL AND THEY WERE GREAT. THEY WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND. THEY PAVED A COUPLE OF SPOTS WE DIDN'T EXPECT THEM TO PAVE.

WE'VE KNOWN THEM FOREVER. HE'S A GOOD KID, AND HE TAKES CARE OF THE NEIGHBORS. WE LIKE TO GIVE THEM THE BUSINESS. WE KNOW THEM AND TRY TO HELP THEM OUT A LITTLE BIT.
