Mr. Smith was paid $400.00 first installment to install washer/dryer. The washer did have pressurized water and electric needed for installation. After an hour here and there, after a few weeks this was done (First day he showed up with no help, "his son went swimming instead", and I had to help him carry the washer and dryer to the second floor). He also showed up insisting he was going to smoke in my house. Next he demanded another $400.00 for "supplies", then disappeared for 4 days with no word when he would return or anyone to call when a puddle appeared. $800.00 was ridiculous an amount to demand, since the dryer has no electric run for it, nor any vent in my asbestos siding, the bigger part of the job. I took him to Bethlehem Town Court and won a judgement for $410.00 which he REFUSES to pay and now have to get the sheriff to enforce. This is a matter of public record. A con guy who knows he did not finish, knows there is a judgement against him, but refuses to pay what is owed me. Save yourself the unscrupulous practices of this "handyman". And NEVER pay more than what is done for anything in advance.
Description of Work: Mr. Smith was paid $400.00 first installment to install washer/dryer. The washer did have pressurized water and electric needed for installation. All that needed to be done was the water hose hookup on the washer to the existing water hookups, drill a hole in the cabinet above for the plug to access the outlet, and a hole in the wall for the tubing. After an hour here and there, and after a few weeks this was done (First day he showed up with no help, "his son went swimming instead", and I had to help him carry the washer and dryer to the second floor). Next he demanded another $400.00 for "supplies", then disappeared for 4 days with no word when he would return. $800.00 was ridiculous an amount to demand, since the dryer has no electric run for it, nor any vent in my asbestos siding, the bigger part of the job. He refused to provide receipts for such "materials". He can only do jobs in piece meal, but expects to be paid as a full time contractor, it would seem. I took him to Bethlehem Town Court and won a judgement for $410.00 which he REFUSES to pay and now have to get the sheriff to enforce.
