Mallen excavating is a one person run company dedicated to the homeowner since 1974. Attention to the smallest detail, excellent service and professionalism is our creed. We offer free estimates and 5% discounts to seniors, active military and boy scout families. We are the contractor who found the skull of the Hyde Park Mastodon in 2000, the youngest Mastodon ever found on the planet.

"First off, I NEVER told the client this job would be on a hourly basis.I told him it was a set price, BASED ON THE INFORMATION HE TOLD ME. Well, the info was incorrect and because of that the job took 3 hours longer than it should have. I felt bad for the guy as the issue was not his fault so I comped him an hour and charged him at my hourly rate above the contracted price for 2 hours. Why he complained then and now is beyond me as he payed me in full. If we were caught in traffic for 3 hours I would'nt have charged him a dime extra but in this case I was given wrong info from the start, rendering that agreed price now null and void. I try VERY hard to always treat everybody fairly but this is obviously one of those times where you simply can't make everybody happy. Thank you Angie's List for my rebuttal.
