M & M MECHANICAL INC

This was a nightmare!  Our vapor heating system is 100 years old and we were told that M&M had experience with these old systems.  Because the old iron pipes in the cellar were beginning to rust and leak, we decided to have them all replaced, knowing that it would be very expensive.  M&M IS knowledgeable about this system, and installed the correct new equipment connected to our furnace.  The problem came with replacing the pipes.  Several days after the job was "completed" I saw steam coming through my cellar door. I went down to the cellar and found a huge leak with steam pouring out of it.  The cellar walls and floor were soaked and mold was growing everywhere.   There was so much steam that it even warped my wood flooring on the level above the cellar.  We immediately turned off the furnace and called M&M.  They repaired the leak but claimed that it was not their fault. They wouldn't even agree to submit a claim to their insurance company.  I called their insurance company myself and the insurance adjuster came to my home and agreed to pay for the cleanup.  I thought that was the end of it...but it wasn't.  About a year later I found a puddle on the cellar floor.  I put a bucket under it had my son check all the pipes for me.  He found several areas where the pipe insulation was wet and had turned brown.  We called M&M again, and again they claimed that it was not their fault.  They agreed to fix the problem as soon as the heating season was over.  I called them in April and again in May to get a date for the repairs.  They kept promising to call me back.  It is now August and I haven't heard anything from them.  I have decided that although I paid them $40,000 for this job, I just don't want to deal with them anymore.  I've hired another plumber to remove all the insulation, check and repair the leaks and reinstall the insulation.  Finally, just as an aside, these were the sloppiest workmen I have ever had in my home.  As I said, the old pipes were very rusty.  When M&M removed the old pipes there was a lot of rust falling on the floor.  They didn't even put down drop cloths to catch this rust, and they didn't clean it up either.
