We bought a boiler from Fox Air, they also installed it. The boiler had to be removed and stored while the house underwent construction. Fox Air removed it, stored it, and happily charged us for this removal and storage. Then the company was sold and the new owners are not honoring the commitment to reinstall and warrantee the work and boiler. They want "nothing to do with this thing." Meanwhile, the storage was not done correctly and many of the pats have seized or rusted. Again, this is all while happily taking storage fees. The costs to undo Fox Airs duplicity and fraud are now exceeding 2500$. We used to be incredibly impressed with the honor, integrity, and quality of Fox AIr’s work. No longer.

FOX AIR CORP RIPPED ME OFF Fox Air Corp guys were at my home last January to do annual cleaning/maintenance, and to replace a faulty pressure relief valve. Here’s a synopsis of how they did: -Failed to diagnose an extremely dangerous and faulty control, despite two indicators of symptoms that were explained up front – this could have caused my boiler to explode and killed someone (Google “boiler explosion”) -Failed to notice multiple holes in the chimney pipe (including one 3”x3/4”), allowing dangerous carbon monoxide fumes to enter my home – this can kill humans and animals -Failed to brush & vacuum the boiler and chimney pipe despite charging me for this on their invoice - FRAUD -Grossly overcharged for all of the above - $250 for the cleaning/maintenance, PLUS $335 for installing a $14 part that should take ten minutes (minus a 15% discount), and they were here only 1.5 hours – total $583 -Failed to perform a proper diagnostic/efficiency test, since the holes in the chimney pipe diluted the results -Failed to mention or fix an efficiency rate that was lower than it should be for our unit -Fostered so little confidence that I had to hire another technician to check Fox Air Corp’s work so we could feel safe in our home The new guy was here for 1.5 hours, exactly the same amount of time as the Fox Air guys. He vacuumed and brushed the boiler and the chimney pipe, since Fox Air failed to do even that. And he replaced the nozzle ($15) at my request for a more efficient one. Yet Fox Air charged me more than FIVE TIMES what this guy did for the same exact amount of time and similar part. Fox Air may be entitled to somewhat higher rates due to their overhead, and sending two guys. But five times higher? That’s ridiculous. Fox Air Corp didn’t even do the work they invoiced and charged me for – and that’s outright FRAUD. I have complained to the owners, Don and Michele Fox, several times. I explained all of the above, and sent them actual proof of their shoddy work in the form of photographs (see pics). They have denied me a refund, and completely ignored my concerns. Don't get screwed by these horrible people like I did.

We're extremely satisfied with the work Fox Air did replacing and upgrading our entire HVAC system (only the existing oil burning furnace was kept).  We'd spoken with several other possible service providers, but Fox's representative, Nate Rose, did a much better job than others in helping us understand various benefits and options, and making us feel comfortable with such a big expense.  He was always responsive to questions and concerns in a friendly and non-pressuring way.  The actual installation began a day late due to delays on a previous job, but Fox then added a second crew to help finish our work without any additional delay.  Both crews were always on time and easy to have in our home; we took the dog to work with us to keep her out of their way, but otherwise let the crews come and go as they pleased.  They always cleaned up after they left; except for the work itself we would not have known we were a construction site at all.  Nate arranged for a carpenter to come and do the necessary structural and sheet rock work to make the installation possible (new access doors had to be created), and the Fox crews seem to have done a great job upgrading insulation and duct work, as promised.  Fox also followed up after the installation, sending Nate back to check on any remaining issues, and then a technician to review and fine tune everything; they also included a free service of the furnace.
FWIW we're also very happy with the equipment itself.  It's been warm so far this winter of course, but the gauge on the oil tank has barely budged, so the Lennox heat pumps Fox sells seem to be working as advertised.  The house is comfortable, the new air handlers are much more quiet and efficient than the old ones, and it's amazing to have our home warmed without the furnace running.  Of course the price of oil is down for now, but it still feels good to know we're pumping less carbon into the atmosphere than before.  Anyway, we couldn't be happier with the whole process.  It was expensive, but the Fox quotes were in line with others, and they did a great job from the initial evaluation and proposal through the installation, and then followup afterwards.

They came out on a sunday to replace a $40 part and charged $440 for the part plus $400 for the service for 10 mins. I called the next day and they made an adjustment. I believe I may have got a credit for $200. The man was beligerent said he was not going to leave my house unless I signed the bill. I even put that "I protest" next to my name when I signed. I angry that he would not leave after ripping me off.

I had no heat on a Saturday evening. I called a few places by the time I got a call back from FoxAir. The tech said an emergency service call on the weekend was $145 plus whatever it takes. I thought $145 sounded reasonable for off-hours and the parts would be whatever they would cost, so I decided to have them come in rather than checking around for price comparisons.
The tech worked for less than 30 minutes and no parts were required. I was shocked when the bill was almost $300! He said that and quot;whatever it takesand quot; means charges out of a service book. This was the FIRST and ONLY time this was mentioned. He charged $145 to step in the house and about $120 to check voltages (plus tax, of course). He said he was doing me a favor because he checked two voltages ($120 each) and air pressure (about $140), so the bill could be almost $400 on top of the $145 to show up. It took less than 30 minutes!!!! This company might actually charge people over $500 for 30 minutes of work???
Over the following months I called EVERY heating repair company in the area. I only found ONE company that charges fees from a service book and they voluntarily stressed this fact. They charge $25 to come out and provide a written estimate before doing any work. All the other companies charge by the hour plus parts. Most were in the $140 to $170 range for the first hour of service on an emergency call at night or weekends. (One company even said they typically charge the normal daytime service rate during evenings and on weekends as long as it's not extremely late - after 10PM.) A few companies charge a fuel fee to come out. The rates of most companies I spoke to sounded pretty reasonable and almost every company voluntarily and openly provided detailed information on their fee policies - something that did NOT happen with FoxAir. I have the feeling the service tech intended to mislead in regards to their fee structure.
I contacted the company owner and received no response. In speaking with others about my experience with this company, I've heard several other stories of misleading practices and price gauging. If you want to pay a reasonable, competitive amount to have any type of work done, this is NOT the company to work with. At least one good thing came from this; I was motivated to take the time to research charges from competitors so I have a list of several heating contractors (with the best blend of price and response) to call the next time I have a no-heat issue with a furnace, especially outside of normal business hours.

When a service provider goes above and beyond all expectations, recognition is deserved. My intent in posting this review is to express unequivocal praise for the EXCEPTIONAL job FoxAir performed at our Dutchess County home in October. Led by knowledgeable, personable, and experienced Nate Rose, the Fox Air team ably fulfilled our request to completely wean our property from oil heat.
The FoxAir crew:
1) removed two 25-year old oil furnaces, an oil-fired water heater, and the two large oil tanks that had supplied them. (This chore was made all the more difficult by the fact that one of the furnaces and both oil tanks were located beneath the house in a 4-ft high crawl space);
2) helped us to select the optimal ultra-high efficiency propane-fired replacements for the old units;
3) installed all the new equipment, tying it into our existing air conditioning system and ductwork.

Given the complexity and difficult accessibility aspects of this job, numerous other installers in the area either wouldn't touch it or came back with bids in the stratosphere. Of the few that were willing to take-on the job, FoxAir was the only one that did so enthusiastically! They were not the low-bidder (though their estimate was certainly reasonable), but given the superlative reviews found here on Angie's List and the very strong impression Nate made on us, we decided to entrust the job to FoxAir. SO GLAD WE DID!

The work was performed on schedule, by kind and considerate gentlemen, and with almost compulsive attention to detail. (We can be very demanding people, but in every regard, FoxAir exceeded our expectations. There was literally nothing for us to gripe about!!!) Everything was completed for the stated price, and the installers cleaned-up after themselves, leaving us with nothing to do afterward save enjoy the new system.
Unexpectedly, FoxAir threw-in new Honeywell digital/programmable thermostats at no added expense to us. I didn't think they'd really make any difference over our older ones, but I must admit, being able to raise and lower the temperature from my iPad when we're away from the house has really come in handy. (I suspect this feature alone will save us real $$$ over the years.)
Included in the sale was the next two-years of full maintenance by FoxAir. What's more, the conversion entitles us to significant rebates from both the furnace manufacturer (Lennox) and from the electric utility company (Central Hudson), and FoxAir filed all the paperwork for us!!! All we needed to do was deposit the checks as they arrived; not bad!
Folks, it gets no better than this... We are delighted to recommend FoxAir without reservation. They're a team of dedicated and experienced professionals who aim to please the end customer.

Overall great job by Fox Air through the whole process. They were on time for the initial meeting and gave us a written up detailed quote right away. They responded quickly via calls or emails to our requests for details on the Gas Boiler Specs and installation instructions to deal with Hyde Park Building Permit requirements and filling out the inspection paperwork after so we could get the C.O. They coordinated with Central Hudson for the Gas Line final hookup and turn on and inspection, and with the Chimney service that was installing a new liner so it could all be done on the same day. Total the installation took about 2 days. We only had to go without hot water for one night. They had several team members doing all the work so it was efficient and cleaned up after. So far we love our new heating system and it is working great, hoping to have cheaper heating bills soon. They also contacted us after the installation to tell us we would be getting another credit from central hudson efficiency upgrade. One last note is that we didn't really coordinate correctly with our oil heating company and had a lot of oil left in our tank before removal.

We were very happy with FoxAir's service and quality of equipment. The two A/C technicians/installers arrived on time -- the job took three full days to complete. They covered our hardwood floors to avoid any damage as they took equipment in and out. They also very carefully cleaned up after they were done each day. They completely dismantled the old system and took it all with them for disposal. Before they left, they had the system up and running, and showed us the new installation (in our attic) and how to maintain it. Another positive is that a two-year service contract is included with the price, so we have confidence that if anything does go wrong, we can call them to come and look at it/fix it without further cost. We just had the system replaced, so we will see if over time, it works well and serves our needs.

Initial appointment and start of job appointments were exactly on time and people who came were professional and courteous. Installers completed the job in less time than expected and supervisior came in as they were finishing to inspect the work with me.
The installers were very careful of my property and completely cleaned up everything very nicely when they were done. Price was exactly per the contract I had and no attempt was made to push and quot;extrasand quot;.
About a week and a half after, the unit had a failure. The service department came right away and the tech worked quite hard to insure it was fixed. Their service department was prompt and professional and on time. The defect appeared to be that of the unit manufacture not anything they did during installation, but Fox made it right.

We highly recommend Fox Air. Their people - from the staff that handles sales and service calls, the sales staff, the installation and service team, and the supervisory staff - are exceptional - professional, experienced, and nice.
Installation of new home air conditioning unit and furnace was a major job that was done on schedule and within budget. There were some minor integration issues with the new system and our other existing equipment that required fine-tuning through follow-up service and these were addressed and corrected with exceptional responsiveness. The system is working very well.
Servicing of second a/c/heating system was done efficiently by Fox and identified things that had been missed in recent annual service performed by another company we had been using previously - e.g., low fluids.
