BMW of the Hudson Valley ended up every bit the slimy used car jockey shop that everyone should avoid. I was coming from quite a distance, so I called ahead to be sure they had the car ready, and made an appointment to test drive it at 9 on a Saturday morning. When I showed up, they vaguely remembered that someone had an appointment, but they didn't recall what vehicle I wanted to see. When we agreed on a price that was in line with the Kelly Blue Book for a car from a dealer, the shenanigans began - first they tried to include Nitrogen in the tires for $75 and floor mats for $150 on the bill of sale. After I told them I wasn't buying the bogus add ons, they still insisted on a $100 fee to have a third party do the title work, and a $199 charge to cover the DMV fees (of which any unused portion would be returned to me). I am from out of state, and I have a legal right to get a transit tag to get it out of the state and do the DMV work on my own, but they would not let me do that. After forcing me to pay for a third party to do the title work, and giving the supposedly refundable DMV fee, they only refunded $59 of the $199 for DMV fees, even though their cost at the DMV was $45 (Yes - a title, transfer, and registration are only $45 at the West Virginia DMV), so they pocketed an extra $100. I called them on it and all of a sudden it got a lot tougher for me to get anyone to talk to me, including the sales manager. They also said they had found the second key, and were going to be sending it to me, but that apparently evaporated when I began to hold them to the written contract that spelled out the terms of the refund on the DMV fees. I will try to get some satisfaction from the general manager, but it appears that this kind of behavior is fully supported on all levels. I would avoid this place at all costs.
