Frank Hefferin and his crew did an excellent job each time in contrast to the two companies that left my yard looking like it had been bombed. I attribute this to the fact that the company's principal, Frank Hefferin, has an encyclopedic knowledge of all plant life (including growth patterns and diseases) and the animal life that depends on it. He also has excellent and obviously expensive equipment; a hardworking and well-trained crew (including a son who may have acquired some of Frank's knowledge via osmosis and similar education); and an aesthetically sensitive eye. Frank Hefferin is both a scientist and an artist. In addition to timing the pruning and tree removal so that the work was done at the times of year that were best for the trees and shrubs, as well as for the animals depending on them (when they could safely find new homes and food) - he also left my yard looking good. The pruning was done in a manner that enhanced healthy and future growth while also making the remaining vegetation pleasing to the eye. He left my property as clean and good condition as could be expected under the circumstances. The Hefferin Tree & Landscape Contracting Inc. is well managed and does excellent work. I definitely recommend the company to other property owners.

We have used Hefferin Tree Services and worked with Frank and his team of professionals for over 15 years and across 2 different homes. He has helped us remove very large trees and branches, preemptively pruned trees so they would be healthy and storm resistant and has guided us as to the best techniques to use to save mature trees when possible. Thanks to his help, we had no damage to our home when recent superstorms caused similar trees to fall or drop branches on neighbor's homes due to a regular program every few years of prevention. We rely on his skill as a arborist and his knowledge of native plants and local conditions.
Frank surveyed the property and made recommendations as to which trees could be saved or just pruned. We collaborated on a scope that made sense given the risk and budget.  He is honest and lets us know the difference between do it now, vs do it within the next 2 years vs you don't have to do it. As always, Frank put us in the schedule where it made sense given others ahead of us due to earlier request or recent emergencies. He responded in a timely way, calling to let us know when he would be at our home. His team was professional, used safe practices, and cleaned up on time.
We are happy with the job and would recommend Frank and his team without reservation.

I purchased a big deal for them. I got a refund back because he didn’t honor it. I used his services but not through Angie's List. The dates were incorrect with Angie's List. I got a refund through Angie's List on his product. But I did use him paying out of my own pocket because he was the lowest offer. His services were great. I just wish he had honored the deal because it would have saved me at least $200. He did tell me that his deal for Angie's List was only exclusively for the winter time and not for the spring. I said fine. I already purchased the deal through Angie's List. I called Angie's List to give me the refund. I explained to them, and everything worked out in the end except that I paid a little more money than I thought I would. The job got done; I was happy for the services. It was excellent. He was good. With any contractor doesn’t matter what job they do, it's always a hassle following through with them and getting them to come on a certain day. But besides that, he was fine.

This is the second time I have used their services, both times went well.  Two (2) of the trees were tall and close to the home which required caution.  They did a good job and a proper cleanup.

Frank reached out to scope the work immediately and even right after a Spring Storm, was able to get me scheduled that week. Rob showed up with his team and they were all over the trees pruning them back and removing all dead and sick limbs to allow the tree to live well past it's 25 year lifespan. I will bring them back as required to maintain the trees and in worse case remove when required. I would recommend them in a heart beat for Tree Services. Very professional and great work, including the cleanup.

Having survived a neighbor's tree through my roof during Storm Sandy, which Frank removed quickly and carefully to not damage my other trees, I now have him inspect all of my trees and neighbors' trees each fall.  He is reasonable, professional and timely.

Two men spent entire day during the cold weather pruning large oak tree.  They didn't break for more than a short lunch break.  Never asked to use bathroom.  Excellent work.  I was amazed to see the worker climb so high and stay up in a 100 foot tall tree for an entire day checking and pruning every branch.  Good work - Hefferin is an aborist and tries to preserve the trees rather than just cut them down.  He cares about the beauty and health of trees in our neighborhood.

I had a feeling that we were going to get a bad storm so I hired them to come and prune two large trees on my property. As a result of their work when Sandy came I had no damage from these trees. They were good and informative; told you how and when they were going to do their work.  They went above and beyond and I will be using them again.
