Our neighborhood was hit with 27and quot; of snow in one storm last winter. Sandy did minor damage, but the snow was a killer. In our yard alone four trees snapped in half, several evergreens were and quot;decapitated, and quot; plus about a dozen Arborvitae keeled over and never rebounded. Pete looked at one large tree we hoped to save and counseled us against it (and showed us why). He examined the Arborvitae and told us he thought we could probably save quite a few with proper staking and care. He suggested removing several big branches from an enormous oak which was overshadowing two ornamental trees, and said he would prune them to restore them to the proper shape. He said he thought the job would take about a half day, and he would work us in as soon as he could - but promised a wait of no more than two weeks.
He called yesterday morning to say he could come in the afternoon (a full week earlier than we expected). He called later to tell us precisely when he would arrive, and again was right on time. His crew was incredibly efficient, and did even more work than we anticipated. For example, one downed tree had destroyed a bush, which they removed. They noticed some small trees (trunks about 4and quot; in diameter) behind the Arborvitae, and cut them down. They also noticed a tree which had sprung up on its own in a flower bed and offered to take that out - and took down another good-sized but ugly tree that was more of a nuisance than an asset.
We have had tree work done before and it was very expensive. This time the charge was quite reasonable, and the crew did even more work than we expected. One thing which probably helped keep costs down is that we have woods behind our home, so many of the smaller trees could be cut and left in our woods. They did chop up and remove the bigger trees, and ground out an enormous stump. When they left, it looked great. It was a lot of work for the price, completed quickly, professionally and earlier than we expected. Will definitely hire them again. His quality and service were good at first. good. The staff and crew appeared professional and they had the equipment they needed to do the job. They took all of the debris to the curb but they didn't do everything they said they would do. They were suppose to use the type of equipment that would not damage the concrete slabs in the backyard. Either they didn't use the protection or the protection failed. Now I have permanent cracks in the slabs. All attempts to communicate and to get Pete Arbor to follow-up re this a other things he said he would do have failed.
