After installation was complete, leaks began to appear. Grover refused to even visit the site to inspect extensive damage. Their insurance company eventually reimbursed me for repairs, over Grover's objections. In April, 2009, Grover was terminated as a Better Business Bureau member.

Several years later, a contractor hired to address what we thought were settling problems in the house discovered astonishing defects in the door installation. I immediately invited Grover to send someone out to inspect the damage 1st hand, while repairs were underway. THEY REFUSED. An independent engineer then analyzed & documented what went wrong. Among other problems, he found: A] Instead of removing siding & weather-proofing the flanges, Grover cut the protective flanges off the doors. B] Instead of using 1-piece drip pans of lead-coated copper, Grover overlapped pieces of aluminum flashing & didn't even seal the joints. C] Grover pitched sills backwards, so water drained toward the house. The insurance adjusters found the engineer's report well-documented & completely credible. My insurance company reimbursed me for over $30,000 in "consequential" damages; they then collected from Grover s insurance company. This number, however, excluded the "work product," which means the cost of the original doors. Though they refused to inspect the damage, Grover did reply to my original letter which alerted them to the problems, saying I would receive a detailed response within a week. I NEVER HEARD FROM THEM AGAIN. I did, however, learn this: Grover argued that their insurance shouldn t pay my damages because THEY DIDN'T PERFORM THE INSTALLATION! When the damage was discovered, Grover told their insurance company that they d done a wonderful job & the problems couldn t be their fault. More than a year later, they changed their story & said the work was actually done by subcontractors, suggesting the insurance company chase the other firm to recover the money paid out. Grover claimed that using subcontractors & not inspecting the finished project themselves relieved them of responsibility. Their insurance company disagreed. The structural problems in my home were discovered after water infiltrated large sections of framing, causing floors to sag & walls to buckle. I feel lucky to have discovered this before they collapsed. If you re considering a contract with Grover, you'll want to do research, read reviews of their performance, & look for customer testimonials. Ultimately, though, you may want to ask yourself do YOU feel lucky?
