Great service and great product.  Everything looks great.  He runs a good team of men.  Our neighbors kept saying they had never seen people work so hard! The final product was really nice.  The stamped concrete in the back looks great.  My husband thought he might have seen a slope in the concrete.  We called him and he was at our house to look at it within a half  hour, and this was on a Saturday.  So, all is well still. No problems and everything looks great.

To begin with, we contracted with Mr. Chappell to start work in mid-June.  He showed up almost a month early.  Yes, he called me that morning, but I was at an early morning doctor's appointment and never got the message.  So, without confirming with me if he could come early, he just arrived and started sledgehammering away at the old stoop.  Also, I had contracted with a landscaping company to move the garden (since I have arthritis), which was in the way of the new walkway.  Mr. Chappell's crew uprooted several plants to get them out of the way, which I then had to replant elsewhere because they wouldn't have survived waiting for the landscapers.  I also had planned to move the garage stuff into the basement in a neat, orderly way, but now had to scramble with Mr. Chappell's crew to move the stuff.

Next, he installed a semi-circular stoop at our front door, and pavers to the driveway.  He did not grade the walkway correctly (he was there on the job, mind you) and after the first big rain the walkway became a huge puddle.  So I called him and he did come and redo it, but it did not look as nice since he had to raise the pavers in different parts to get the water to drain.

Then winter came and we noticed that the melted snow was not draining out of the garage, but instead forming puddles at the garage door end.  At this point we had had it with Mr. Chappell.  We discussed getting someone else to redo the garage, and considered taking Mr. Chappell to Small Claims Court to cover our expenses in this regard.  But a few months later my husband's department was eliminated, we had to sell the house.  About 2 weeks before we moved, Mr. Chappell showed up and I told him about the garage and also how the pavers on the stoop kept coming loose.  He said he "stands behind his work" and would fix it.  I told him he would be contacted by the new owners and he gave me his card.  When the new owners contacted the office, they got a nasty woman who said he wouldn't be doing it, that he only guarantees stuff for a year.

I know Mr. Chappell has done work for other people and they have been happy (at least that's what his references said).  I'm not sure what happened with us, but I would not recommend him.
