The spring clean up portion was to be completed over a couple sessions, but after a month what was promised was not complete. Specifically the edging around the beds was never completed, about a third of the bed weeding was not finished and the adding of mulch was not done under the scrubs. The regular yard maintenance portion when done was being completed as fast as possible without any real eye towards quality. What had previously taken about an hour to be done by other providers was now being completed in about twenty minutes and most of the weed eating was not done. During the fourth cutting (on a Friday) after the so called mowing was complete and the weed eating was being worked on, we pointed out to them that there were clumps and heavy cover being left. The provider said he might have to use his "diesel" machine to pick them up and that would cost an additional amount due to the cost of transporting it. But that he would go over the yard with the machine he had there that day and spread the clippings (which was originally to be done anyway). He also mentioned that he was on his way out of town for the holiday weekend after finishing. He stopped weed eating, very quickly ran the mower over part of the yard, then packed up and left. The following week came and went and on the 2nd Sat (8 days later), the wife of the owner came to our door with copy of the bill for the previous month. She informed us that they would no longer be able to handle our lawn care service, because it was too far out and would not be cost effective to have to do with the diesel machine. They left us with that notice, a bill and the lawn needing to be mowed. They also included an extra charge for spreading of the grass clipping the last time the lawn was mowed as well as double billing us for the first mowing, which was supposed to be included in the initial spring clean up portion. We have since seen them drive by our "too far out" location with their equipment a few times. It seems to us that they were just looking for jobs that could be done as fast as possible for a high profit margin. Shame on us for not getting anything in writing in the first place, only because they seemed so earnest when we first spoke with them, "buyer beware".
Description of Work: Spring clean up - First cutting of lawn, two passes if needed and removal of lawn clippings. Edging and weeding of all flower beds, addition of mulch to all beds. removal of fallen branches, trimming of scrubs and a couple tree branches over the driveway. Weekly Lawn maintenance over summer - Mow lawn, with spreading of clumps and left over clippings or removal if too heavy. Weed eating of all flower beds. The clippings left were specifically brought up by us because that had been a problem in the past. We were assured that it was their desire to complete the services to our satisfaction as if it was their own lawn. We were given an estimate for the initial clean up and one price for the weekly service.
