Joe was terrific - he did the installation quickly and flawlessly, anticipating what we needed to get it done so it was a very smooth job. The disposal works perfectly. In addition, he made some suggestions about other things in the house that needed a tweak, and stabilized a pipe at no charge. Joe is both personable and professional, and we enjoyed talking to him. He is very knowledgeable about old houses. We really appreciated his insights into our new (but built in 1900) place!

Caltech was wonderful. Joe and his assistant were professional, knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Even vacuumed the dust from behind the refrigerator when checking out the ice maker, and there was a lot of it, to my embarrassment! Both items were repaired and are now working perfectly. I highly recommend Caltech.

Great, I was doing a renovation on my powder room and needed Joe to disconnect and later reconnect the plumbing fixtures. It was a little tricky because of the way the drain pipe lined up (it didn't). Joe is a very capable plumber and does very neat work. He's also done several appliance repairs for us in the past (dishwasher, washing machine) and really knows what he's doing. It's unfortunately kind of unusual in this world where it seems like a lot of people are just winging it. I like that I can communicate with Joe via text, even sending pictures of the things I need done so he knows what he's getting into and can be prepared. Overall he's a great guy and a very good contractor to have in our contact list.

I had a leak under my toilet that was becoming more and more visible on the ceiling below. Caltech had been highly recommended by a good friend. I called and made an appointment to have it checked out. I also wanted to change the original plastic dryer vent hose which was no longer up to code. I was concerned about the possibility of a fire and wanted it replaced with the metal one. Since adding hardwood floors to my kitchen, I noticed that my refrigerator had caused some water damage and wanted to find the source of the leak. Joe came on Friday 2/20 to take a look and give me an estimate. He took his time and offered some possible solutions to each of my issues. He returned on Monday 2/23 to begin the repairs. He made sure to keep me informed of everything he was doing, including showing me the reason why things had malfunctioned. He removed the toilet, cleaned and disinfected the area, filled a void with plaster of paris and replaced the wax ring with two wax rings to make sure that there was a tight seal. He then meticulously cut out the damaged drywall ceiling (which I thought I'd have to call another tradesman to repair), he had his assistant flush the toilet several times to make sure it was not leaking. He then replaced it with a drywall patch and finally taped and mudded the area flawlessly. After that, he began work on the dryer. He took it apart and cleaned everything. He also suggested replacing the wheels and rubber belts that could possibly fail in the future (my dryer was 20 years old and had never been serviced!). He also replaced the selenoids at no additional charge. After checking and cleaning the vent, he attached the new metal vent and tested everything. Moving on to the refrigerator, he discovered that an integral part of the drainage system had malfunctioned. The water was unable to drain which in turn, caused ice to build up in the bottom of the freezer as well as on the freezer coils. Again, he removed the freezer drawers and dismantled the area below the French doors. One could clearly see the ice build-up. He removed the ice in the bottom and using very hot water, carefully melted the ice on the coils and in the drain. He also adjusted the opening on a rubber "nipple-like" part which had not allowed the water to drain through. Before reassembling the unit, he poured water in to make sure it drained properly. He then checked the back of the refrigerator to make sure it was clean and all connections were tight and leak free, including the water shut off valve assembly. All repairs took about 41/2 hours. Joe returned on 2/24 to add another coat of drywall compound on the ceiling patch. It looks so good that I can delay hiring a painter! Joe was very punctual and when he could not be here at the agreed time, he called. I also received a call from his secretary. He put on "booties" upon entering and wore them throughout the job. He was very neat and always cleaned up after finishing the work in an area. His professionalism was appreciated and very commendable.

He was really professional, quite personable, very communicative and patient in his explanations. He was as concerned (maybe more concerned) than I was with saving me money. I'm overjoyed that I now have a goto appliance guy.
Joe came out and had a look at my refrigerator that was making a horrendous noise last night. He gave several options for what the problem could be. I had defrosted the freezer / fridge and it appeared to be fine since powering it back up. He helped me wipe out excess moisture from the freezer, asked for some cleaner and wiped down the seals and explained in very clear terms what the problem likely was. He was quick to mention that I could wait and see if the problem recurred, and offered that if I needed to have him back he'd waive the service call and go right into the fix.
Then we looked at my oven (which I hadn't thought to call him about, but I took the opportunity), which had been having a problem. I mentioned that some posts online had talked about a heat leak. He looked at the door and spotted the signs of a heat leak. We checked the seal on the door and found it to be not that tight. We adjusted the door and rechecked the seal. Since I wasn't baking anything it was hard to see if the fix will work but I am certain there isn't going to be a heat leak any more.
The only thing that kept this from being an all A's review was some room for improvement in punctuality. And really it's just better expectation management. He telephoned to say he'd be here in 15 minutes. 45 minutes later still no sign. This was totally fine, I'd worked from home so I was home all day, but I'd prefer he gave me a range. Still, he was able to show up same day—I called this morning around 9 AM. So, minor critique, nothing to sweat.

Joe the Serviceman from Cal Tech called within 15 minutes to inquire about the call. When I explained the problem and what had happened, he went on to explain exactly what happened and if anything should continue for me to call him back and he would come to service the refrigerator. I would call this place again if needed.

Joe is very professional person, he came he gave us an estimate and told us that the fridge can be fixed do not replace it. He fixed the problem and the refrigerator is working fine. He also looked at my washer and fixed a minor problem that saved us a lot of money ( interms of Buying a new washer that we were planning to) he told us that washer is fine and that its is a plumbing problem that he fixed in ten minutes. I had gotten the washer seen by another plumber already who told me there is no plumbing issue.
In total he saved us a lot od headache and money . We were about to replace both washer and the fridge .
He is professional, courteous and friendly . Most of all he was honest with us . That we appreciated the most . Trust worthy and honest about what needs to be fixed what needs to be replaced .

Our two year old washer stopped working. It would keep shutting itself down and wouldn't spin or drain properly. And of course it was out of warranty. I called Joe and he was able to get to our place within a few days. He spent a good amount of time troubleshooting to understand the problem but did not immediately know the cause. He did some research that evening and figured it out and ordered the part, and came back a couple of days later and fixed it. I was impressed with how much time he spent troubleshooting and fixing the problem, and testing to make sure it was fixed. I felt that using a local repair guy like Joe was much better than calling Sears or some other large repair company.

and quot;Wow!and quot; does not say enough about the expertise, competence, personality and professionalism of Joe, the owner/technician. I called him on a Saturday late-afternoon, and he was at my door the next day (Sunday!) at 9:30 a.m. as promised. He spent 2 hours fixing and then doing some maintenance on my 10- or 12-year old fridge. He had a replacement motherboard in stock, so that was lucky. He patiently explained everything he was doing. I'd recommend him to anyone!

Opened up my dryer which was in a small closet. Had it apart and diagnosed problem within minutes. Replaced part and cleaned out dust which was about to cause a fire. You could see where the dust balled up and was burning, amazing. So I implore everyone to have maintance routinely done on dryer before something bad happens, it worth the hundred bucks. I would use Caltech on all my appliances . Joe was repairmen and was great.

Caltech diagnosed a problem with our freezer and the corresponding outlet. Turns out the circuit breaker was fried. He replaced and checked all the others just to be safe. Freezer was shot but he diagnosed the problem.

I called because my 10 year old refrigerator didn't seem to be working properly, along with my 15 year old dishwasher which was making odd, new noises. I got an appointment the same day; he came at the promised time.
Luckily we just needed to vacuum and clean the refrigerator coils and fix an electrical outlet behind the refrigerator. The dishwasher required similar treatment, and at the end both seem to be working fine.
Clean, neat and friendly.

The work itself was very good, but they did not clean up perfectly. They left me with stuff that I had to do. The work was well done though. The man who did the work showed me what I should do to clean up, but he should have cleaned up himself. The price was very, very good.
