"Thank you so much for sharing your positive experience on Angie's List! We are glad we could assist and that your crew and coordinator were able to help make your stressful move more manageable. It would be our pleasure to be of service to you in the future for any of your moving or storage needs."
"Thanks so much for your review of our service. We are a new business to Angie's list and have just found our reviews. Lots of different people pull together to perform a move well and we are happy to share the feedback with everyone involved."
"Thanks very much for your review of our service. It's been almost a year since we moved your piano but we are new to Angie's list and found your review. The winter weather was especially challenging to us last year and earlier this year. We would love the opportunity to be of service to you in the future."
We moved and used the service previously (by a different moving company but was under the same corporate) so we knew the process and what we were expecting.
Things started well. A rep showed up to our house to estimate the cost to move our belongings. A date was set and an estimate was given. On the day of the move, a group of guys showed up to pack our belongings up. The following day a large moving truck showed up and our belongings were packed into the trailer. A lot of things were going on at one time. One person was tagging boxes and items, some people were finishing packing while others were loading the truck. Once the truck was loaded the foreman quickly threw papers in my face to sign without reviewing the paper I was going to sign with me. Apparently, he was in a hurry to get home.
The truck showed up at our new house at 9:17 am (they were scheduled to arrive at 8:00 am), they quickly unpacked the truck without doing an inventory check. We asked the foreman twice why we didn't need to do it. This is exactly what he said "I packed and loaded the stuff myself, it's all there". The foreman refused to do it because he was sure of everything was there. Once they finished unloading the truck, we noticed that some boxes were severely damaged and some of our furniture was broken. I quickly brought it to the foreman's attention and he said it was already damaged prior to the move. When I looked at the packing list, every item of furniture we owned was marked as damaged, scratched, or soiled. My one year old son's brand new crib was listed damaged. Our baby grand piano, which is in pristine condition, was listed as damaged and scratched. Our brand new queen mattress and boxspring, never been slept on, was marked as soiled. All of our electronic equipment (TVs, computers, lawn equipment, small kitchen appliances, space heaters) was listed as mechanical condition unknown so that any damages the occurred would not be covered. We had priceless artwork and my Master's diploma that never showed up. We had shipping boxes that never showed up. Furthermore, when they finished unloading. Again, he threw papers in my face for me to sign. I looked through them one by one before I signed. He was not happy and asked me to hurry up and just sign them where he marked the "X" mark.
As we unpacked our belongings, we learned that they didn't do a good job on packing at all. They threw and tightly packed them in boxes. The thing that I didn't like most is how they packed them. For example as I unpacked my boxes, I found pots and pans, shoes, toothbrushes and underwear within the same box. The next box was like waffle iron, coffee machine on top of expensive wine glasses.
When we tried to claim this with Clancy, I realized that the inventory check sheet was never done and I was forcely signed the waiver not to do so. The majority of our claims were denied despite us paying for total replacement cost protection because the inventory check was never done and I were forced to sign a waiver. This was why the foreman didn't want to check the packing list as they unloaded. Eventhough the inventory check was never done. However we can check if everything was moved and unloaded by checking the packing list. Still this is not right. I felt like I got scammed for the whole process.
In the end Clancy Moving Systems paid us $1000 to cover damaged items. Mostly were small houseshold or kitchen items like broken dishes, broken coffee mugs, or ????linen. Large items such as my son's crib, guitar or mattress cannot be claimed because they were marked as "damaged, soiled, scratch, or mechanical condition unknown" on the packing list. All of the lost items cannot be claimed because the inventory was never done. The total estimated cost of the items that were damaged or lost totaled over $7000.
Please beware of this company. They are fast talkers and very unprofessional. Throught out the process from getting an estimate to filing the claim, they never informed me or kept me updated on anything which was opposite from other company I used before. We brought this matter to the corporate and didn't get further assistance. We were very disapointed in their service and professionalism. Once they take your money, they could care less about what happens to your belongings.
When it comes to your personal and family belongings, choose another company. I would not recommend this moving company to anybody ever.
"It has been a long time since your move but we are new to Angie's list. We read your story of what took place and will follow-up with customer service to see what more they can recall about the unfortunate events that took place."
"Thanks for your review of our services on Angie's list. Just recently we joined Angie's list as a business. So we just found your review and were very pleased to hear how well everyone performed. Thanks!"
