The technicians were prompt, competent and hardworking.
The company submitted a proposal for additional work which seemed to us to be overpriced and to exceed our needs.
He also finished the work on time and within budget, I had to do a few changes to the finish work but he charged me reasonable for the change order. I will be calling them back very soon to continue renovations in my house.
Good job Chris !
I am currently having Chris' company return to do some additional painting in other rooms.
Be prepared for frustration getting a response to your initial call. However once Chris comes out, contact is much improved. And, as I said before, the wait is worth the quality of workmanship.
I have a hard time believing the guy had done very much work on grout or tiles in his whole life. He first inspected the job and then went off for an hour to the hardware store to buy the proper grout. The color he chose matched well, but I later found out he got the 'sanded' type of grout instead of 'non-sanded' which is more appropriate for such jobs.
When he got to work, I checked in to see how it was going and found him finishing a line of grout around the edges of the shower that was easily 3/4- 1 inch thick, with a pronounced rounded edge in all four corners --- covering not just the grout lines, but the tile as well. I may not know much about grout, but I know it is meant to be inside the cracks between tiles. He was clearly an amateur. On the spot I re-directed him to make the grout lines much much thinner and he complied. In the end, though the line was a little thick, it wasn't offensive. It looked good.
But within weeks, the grout in the shower began cracking and chunks of it became dislodged. Nearly three months later, it looks worse than before the work was done. A professional tile guy subsequently inspected and told me the new grout had merely been packed onto the old -- and that to form a seal, the old grout had to be removed first.
York deco failed miserably. They sent an amateur -- he tried his best, clearly, but he didn't know what he was doing.
