Job was supposed to take 5 days. It was started on 4/20th and is still not finished. Walls took 3 days to repair. Acceptable. However, contractor, Joe Gallo, has "dissappeared" for whole weeks at a time. He has one story after another, and when he does call it's because he needs more cash for supplies. For the amount of money I've paid him, there should have been more than one person working at a time, and it has only been him. My husband and I live on the second floor of a 2 family house (owned by my in-laws), and the banister on the stairs and the railing at the top was missing for 2 weeks. Now that they've been installed, the banister is not what I picked out, and the railing is not installed properly -- it gives when you grab it. He never picks up his cell phone, and most of the time his voice mailbox is full. When I am able to leave a message, it is to no avail, because he never calls back. On two seperate occassions I've smelled alcohol on his breath. This guy is a neighborhood guy, who has worked as a general handyman on our house for the past, almost, 10 years. He renovated my kitchen 2 years ago (also did not go perfectly smoothly, but not nearly as bad as this project). I don't know what his problem is lately, but I will never use him again. And I may need to hire someone else to finish this project.
