Has the know how I'm sure which is how he sold me on hiring him. I'm embarrassed I didn't know the process to know I was being taken advantage of. I was to have a concrete slab poured onto the 250 ft. garage floor that was converted into living space. The job was to begin July 1st and finished by July 2nd. He wasn't well prepared when he showed up. He asked me for a container to large enough to mix concrete. I gave him a 18x24" plastic storage bin. He bickered back n forth with helper over how to mix it, meanwhile splattering it all over and around the bin. They got it on the walls and outside walls of the house, and on a nearby picnic table. Not to mention all the concrete dust all over the ground. They left the hose water just running n running. The battery failed on the hand held mixing tool so he stopped and left to go get another. He was gone a while. He began by mixing quikrete and spreading it onto the floor. About half way across the floor they stopped again to go get more quickrete and lunch. When finished, half the layer was dark and the other was varying shades of gray. There were bubbles which i was assured was fine and normal. When they left, they left all the trash and debris behind too. After they left. He said he'd be back the following day or 2 at the most to grind and sand any pebbles and bubbles that I saw, that again he assured me was normal. The next day, he told me to wait another day because it would be better for the floor. On July 3rd there was another reason he couldn't make it, he had excuses about how his guys were tired and needed a break. He even said he would try to come the next day! The 4th of July! I believed him! I waited and blew off the holiday hoping and waiting for the floor to get worked on. At this point the bubbles had popped and there were pits in the floor. It began cracking and sounded hollow underneath when I knocked on it. I could go on and on. There were a lot of promises, many no-call/no-shows, and even more excuses. He even asked me why the police were trying to reach him. He thought I had called them. I should have. Lots of non sense with this guy. He seems quite competent, capable, polite, and eager to help. Nope. I was able to prove all this and more in small claims court. The judge awarded me a refund plus a fraction of what it cost to get it done right.
