1. Despite the low marks I give MC, I WOULD use him for masonry. I think he did a good job.

2. The problem was that he expanded the job (with my OK) into areas where he did not have the skills or the tools. He properly discovered that my sewer was backed up. This was very helpful. He tried to solve the problem and ran up some bills. Ultimately I had to get someone who had the proper equipment and experience to do the job over.

3. The main purpose of the work was to improve our insulation. However he became sidetracked on the sewer problem and then the weather turned bad. So the insulation job was not completed for the 2014-15 heating season.

4. We called repeatedly and did not get a proper response. Finally he did come and finish the job. He stood by his word and finished it without asking for further payment.

So - I WOULD use MC for masonry. But I would limit the work to that. I would be sure to have enough funds retained to finish the job. He is a very nice man. If I had limited the work to this and he had finished on time, I would give him much higher marks. I WOULD give him a chance.

He is a skilled and trained stone mason. I found him through a referral. He is a lovely person who does incredible work. He works with his son. He comes when he says he would. His prices are more than reasonable. He is just terrific.
