On the most recent job in April, when I first described what the scope of the work was, I had mentioned I would like a dimmer switch installed in the bedroom as well. When the guys showed up to do the main work (sconce installation) they were unaware of the dimmer request and didn't have any in the truck, which wasn't a big deal. I also thought to mention on their way out that the original switch in the kitchen (that they installed) had issues and I showed them, and they said it's a relatively simple fix which they could when they came back. A week or so later I got a call around 8am on a weekday asking id I would be home in an hour for them to fix the switch, and I said yes but asked what the approximately cost would be. I was told it would be $15 for the part plus labor, which I figured for a "simple" job wouldn't be more than $50 at absolute max. It took 10 minutes to fix after the tech came a half hour or so later.
At the beginning of May I get an invoice for the original agreed work, plus $135 for fixed switch in the kitchen. $135! Which would equate to $120 for 10 minutes of labor. I immediately called to question this and was promptly told "I don't have time to argue this with you, the guy had to come out again, send whatever you want to pay" with a nasty attitude. I'm not one to underpay what I'm billed, so I sent a check in full with a note calling out my frustration and how they should be much clearer when quoting prices. I also noted that I'm paying in full and leaving it to him to make it right. He cashed the check 2 days later and I haven't heard anything since.
It is also worth mentioning that booking this job and getting appropriate call-backs was difficult. A few times the response was 'we're very busy, maybe next week' but I would never hear anything until I called again.
So in summary, Ancon Electric's quality is high. Their responsiveness, clarity and price quoting accuracy is not, and they do not take kindly to being called on it.
I LOVE Ancon Electric. They do a great job for a reasonable price, they clean up when they go, and best of all, you never, never have to worry about unsafe electricity in the home. They come when they say they will come; if anything delays them they come very soon thereafter. They clean up after themselves. The work is very neat and tidy when complete.
You can't go wrong. I have used them on 2 major jobs (a whole house renovation and a basement renovation) and they were super terrific both times. For this third, smaller job, they lived up to their previous high standard
