Dr. Riznyk had an x-ray taken of my left foot. He said that my big toe and the toe next to it needed to have surgery to fix them. This was the reason I had come to him. However, he also said that from the x-ray the last two toes on my left foot needed surgery also (the little toe and the toe next to it). He said they had bunions too that needed to be corrected. Even though those two toes had not hurt me nor looked deformed in anyway to me, I trusted him because he is a doctor. To this day, my little toe on my left foot will not lie down and it is crowding the toe next to it. The toe next to my little toe on my left foot is turned sideways from the surgery and lies on its side. These last two toes on my left foot still cause me pain. I have trouble finding comfortable shoes. Dr. Riznyk told me I needed surgery on two toes that didn’t really need surgery. He cares about money more than his oath to “first do no harm.” I would not recommend him to anyone. He is not a trustworthy doctor. At my last follow-up appointment in December, 2014 he acknowledged that my little toe on my left foot needed to have the ligament lengthened surgically so that it would lie down. The thing is that I had no problem with that toe before the surgery. Why didn’t he lengthen the ligament when he did the surgery the first time? He said off-handedly that he could do surgery on it in his office to fix it but never tried to set a time and date with me to do this. I never went back to him after he released me from his care. I had a terrible outcome from my surgery on the two toes that needed no surgery because I trusted him and believed him since he is a doctor. I would not wish this on anyone.

UPDATE:

My toe next to my little toe on my left that needed no surgery not only lies on its side now after the unnecessary surgery that Dr. Riznyk said I needed on it but is also a floppy toe. I have to tape it to the middle toe next to it at night in order to sleep since the surgery. I had never had a problem with it before the surgery and allowed him to do the surgery on my last two toes because he said they needed surgery. They never needed surgery. Now I know not to trust doctors and to always get a second opinion. I have never given anyone a bad review before. I did this to try to prevent this from happening to anyone else.

Dr. Riznyk diagnosed the problem as neuroma (nerve damage in the foot). He offered three types of treatment and I decided on liquid N2 injection since it was a one-time treatment. I was treated on a Thursday afternoon and rested that weekend as directed. When I went back for post-injection checkup,he gave me an Rx for methylprednisolone (Dose Pak) to alleviate the swellling and some mild discomfort. That worked well and I've had no problems since except occasional numbness in the toes that he said may happen. It's not often and doesn't hurt - just tingles a bit. I'm very satisfied with the treatment and the service provided by the Dr. and his staff.

He's very knowledgeable and very effective in his treatment.

He is thorough. He is personable and has excellent bedside manner. So far, the surgery seems to be effective.
