Part of the top plate and tension control had melted under a tensor light but they solved the friction problem by cutting a larger opening for the partially bent tension wheel -- the owner's idea -- since it was not possible to get replacement parts. Did a great job, less expensive than other maintenance services I have used in the past. Cost included two twin-needles that I purchased. Owner and staff knowledgeable and very helpful, friendly. Definitely worth going a bit out of your way to use them.

After hearing about this sewing center in Queens, I made the trip out from Manhattan and am so glad I did. The store is smallish but very attractive, stocked with new machines, all sorts of notions, quilting fabrics, and sewing classes, in addition to a machine repair department. The sales staff is simply outstanding - friendly, helpful and professional. We became friends at once, and my machine was checked over and reconditioned in a couple of weeks. I was sped on my way with helpful advice about public transportation (I have no car) and I was abler to catch a bus (QM6) back to midtown Manhattan with my machine. Highly recommended.

My sewing machine was broke and I took it to Sew Right Sewing Machines. They are a very trustworthy repair shop. They are very knowledgeable of the repairs they do. When you go to the store they have sewing machines displayed for you to try out. They have fabrics and other sewing supplies at the store also.

They have been in business there for a very long time. I feel like I can trust them. They stand by their work. They also have sewing and clothing classes that are really nice. It is a small store and they don't have everything, but they have a lot of sewing machines, both new and refurbished. They are not cheap but they stand by their models. The punctuality wasn't bad.

I use them frequently. They're excellent for Bernina sewing machines and servicing higher end sewing machines. It's the only place I'll use for my Bernina.

We learned about Sew Right from Angie's List.
My Mom's 1950s Singer hadn't been used in years and therefore had neither been oiled nor cleaned. My sister was visiting and wanted to use the machine so she phoned Sew Right and spoke to Harvey. She says she knew right away he was a good guy and we took the machine over.
Harvey is totally an expert and conscientious too. My sister and Harvey chatted for like an hour about machines, sewing etc. He was extremely easy to deal with. I'm not into sewing but I enjoy looking so I mostly wandered around the store. It is clearly a center for people into sewing and doing projects like quilting for which there is a schedule of workshops. He has a good-sized assortment of machines and accessories.
Getting back to the work he did on our machine, my sister was going to be visiting for only a short while and was in a hurry to get the machine prepped. Harvey offers and we chose expedited service. He phoned us a day early to say the machine was ready. My sister was very pleased.
