We loved working with Arty... he was on the job and on the phone when we needed him.  When he wasnt on the job he had really qualified seasoned professionals heading his crew.  Carlos his lead foreman was awesome...and they all really took pride in their work.  Another point to make is that they did'nt cut corners to make it easy.  in fact, there were times when interpurting  the blueprints they questioned and made helpful and cost saving vialbe suggestions that where agreed to by the arch.. 
My husband is in construction and he too was impresssed by their work ethic and pride in their work. Building a home is a process and working with Arty took a lot of the stress out of it.  While Arty was not the lowest bid for the job, he wasnt the highest.  He gave us a fair price for the work.  If you're going to use a contractor for anything, treat them the way you'd like to be treated...respect , courteous , on time payment schedule and low on drama and you'll receive the same in return.  Arty was a calming influence during the process.  Any challenges that arose during construction.. and let's face it ...there always is...he faced with a matter a fact..."we can fix this" attitude.  Which when in the middle of a job is so appreciated...he never ever racheted up a situation to be more than it was.  The weather was so rainy this spring and early summer.. and that really was the only delay issue we experienced...AJC worked outside when it wasnt pouring...and inside when it rained.   Another point..we did have some extras that werent included in the initial price, but they were fair and expected. All our inspections... and ther were many as we are in a village... passed with flying colors. 
I would highly recommend using AJC... we wish him luck and success in his business for many years to come... After all... he built the home my family will spend many happy years in.  Thank you Arty.. Carlos and crew!

We dealt with the same two installers on both occasions, and both times they gave us the same high quality of work, were very friendly and professional, and work fast. The first visit took them about half a day to install the window framing, sill under the living room window, and paint everything. On their second visit it took a good solid day to frame out the windows in our three bedrooms, install new sills and paint everything. The end result is great, there are a couple of areas I have to go back and retouch (I have to fill in some of the holes from the nailgun a little better and touch up a couple of edges), but on the whole my wife and I are very pleased with the results and found the work well worth the money we paid. Carlos, one of the installers, made sure to reinsulate some areas around the sills that hadn't been originally insulated properly when doing the installation so we had no air leakage, an example of the kind of thoughtful care they took in getting the job done.

Artie started the job on time and was here every day until it got done.  His crew was thorough, fast, and clearly skilled.  Artie knows what he is doing and gave me a good price.  AJC Design Inc. was a great value.  We are already planning to use them again for all our other renovations.

Artie and his crew did a fantastic job. They were great to work with. Artie was very honest and reliable.  I would absolutely recommend them and hope to use them again in the future.

They did a really professional job. We have an older house so it took a lot of work to get the door frame cut correct to hang the door. They worked hard, were polite and saw the job through. It took a lot of time to get the job done right but they did it and we are happy with it.

They did pretty good! He had a very good group of workers who performed very well together. They were punctual, responsive, and acted professionally with respect. My wife and I appreciated this.

My plan was to take our 1,000 square foot brick ranch and turn it into a 6,000 square foot Georgian Colonial. I interviewed over 15 builders, contractors, and framers. It was easy to decide on Arti from AJC Design for a number of reasons, but most importantly because he picked up on some key issues in the plans before we even signed him on as our builder. Although I could go on for paragraphs on how wonderful Arti and the AJC team are, I'm going to get right to the point. I am an ambitous, driven, anal, "type-a" person, and a research fanatic. It is extremely difficult to meet my expectations, and Arti and his team did it with ease. I can't say enough about how great they are. They showed up every day on time, worked weekends when it was necessary, and were above and beyond courteous to my family. Arti is down to earth, easy to communicate with, ALWAYS fair, and I never had one single problem with him and I can be very difficult. He also protected me and made sure that all of the sub-contractors, electrician, etc... were equally respectable so I got good pricing and didn't get burned. From a technical standpoint Arti is way more than a builder. I've referred him to other jobs since he did our place and have witnessed him take over the full project because the architect never measured anything and botched the plans. If it weren't for his expertise these people would have lost tens of thousands of dollars. I could have easily built a home that looks like the rest of the boring, tacky looking additions in the neighborhood. Instead I built a Georgian Colonial with class, that I designed myself and Arti made come to life. I have 7 uncles in the construction business and I know the game inside and out. Long Island and Metro NY are a hotbed for contractors price gouging and doing bad business. Some of these guys will charge you $500 to hang a picture! I was blessed to have met Arti and the AJC team and have them build my house. He was fair, and he does incredible work. He also returns telephone calls promptly and ensures that the job goes as promised. My home speaks for itself, and if you want to see it or see pictures, it can be arranged through Arti. Like the other reviewers on here, we also became very fond of Arti and consider him a family friend now.

My renovation started in November 2009. I would highly recommend using AJC Designs. The owner Arty was so easy to work with and never minded any changes I made. There are 5 people in my family and a big yellow lab. We lived in the house through the entire renovation and AJC Designs worked around us. The made us comfortable the entire time. They were here everyday on time and worked all day. They always went the extra mile. They helped me in and out of the house with my groceries and laundry. You could not ask for a better group of workers. They actually became my friends. They are no longer here everyday and I miss them. Whatever we wanted they gave us. They never complained about anything.
