He cleaned and serviced the burner and had it going in no time. In two hours, we had heat and hot water again! I would highly recommend Tom to anyone needing service for their furnace.

Tom came out early, he advised that if i wanted to save money i did not need to replace the chamber. he also said the 1600 quoted was a fair price, but that maybe i did not need a coil either. he said it might be the expansion tank that the other plumbers said "sounded" fine. one of them even took it off and since no water in it, had to be the coil. Tom from North Shore came out and serviced the burner in addition to replacing the tank. it was a gamble, i might have a coil problem, but for 100.00 on top of the service, it was worth checking. sure enough. leak is gone. extremely different opinions from these plumbers. tom could have sold me the coil and chamber, and maybe going forth i might need them, but my leak and pressure problems are gone with the tank replacement for 100.00. tom knew the system and that a tank might sound fine, but still could have been the culprit for my slow leak and my pressure issue. he diagnosed the problem skillfully. the pressure was not high when he came so he knew it was not the coil. he saved me a LOT of money and needless work. he charges about what everyone else charges for service and repairs, but he only does what is needed and he does it with skill and care. he can be trusted. i am grateful.

He called me right back after i left a message.  He managed to find time to come see me the same day I called.  Called me back again to let me know exact time.  He was so nice right from the start....acted like it was a pleasure to help me.  You don't get that very often on this Island.  He took his time to figure out the problem and started with the least expensive issues first.  He was here for about 2 hrs, figured out what could be the problem and he was right on....he got it to work and it's been running great since.  I would absolutely use him again.  Excellent work for a fair price and he cares about his business and the work he does.

I bought the house in 2011 and called Tom because he was the tech who seemed to have worked on the boiler for the prior owner. Tom came to give it an annual cleaning and to get the unit started again.  He even took the time to show me how to bleed the heater baseboard pipes in the three zones of my house so that there would be no more sloshing water sound in the baseboard pipes whenever the heater was running.
This past month, my heater was having some issues kicking on and Tom slotted me into his busy schedule to come and do the maintenance work.  He is polite and professional, he cleaned out my entire unit as well as the exhaust chimney.  My heater system is now running sweet as a nut.

He is very good. It is one guy, Tom, and he is very responsive, he stays until he gets the job done, and he was very good at troubleshooting what my issue was. I had no idea that it was the exchange plate, and then once I got the part, he came right back and replaced it. It was expensive, but he had to repipe some things. Although it cost a lot, there was a lot that he had to do.

Tom came as he promised and serviced our boiler. He also gave my husband tips on how to maintain and service the boiler in the future. My husband was very impressed that he willingly shared his expertise and we will definitely use him again.

Tom methodically checked on possible reasons why the boiler ignitor wasn't working and quickly found and resolved the problem. He is very pleasant, informative and professional.

Our oil burner and water heater were not properly serviced by previous companies - for years. My oil company put me in touch with Tom; he called back right away and showed up when requested to assess and service the system when it started malfunctioning, i.e., the burner not reacting to the thermostat, and also no hot water. In the process, he told us about a problem our system had that no one else even mentioned. Plus, he insisted we wait to see how the units operated after the servicing to see if new lines were even needed. He did not try to "work" us into spending more money - especially helpful since we lost some business income from Hurricane Sandy. All told, he spend over two hours here and left the place clean. 

I spoke to Tom, who was friendly and helpful, and arranged for him to come by on a Saturday.  This was necessary, as I work on the weekdays and can't be at the house until 5PM.

I had gotten an oil burner installed by someone else, and had issues with it for some time.  I had told him that the guy who installed it may not have done a good job.  Tom opened it up and took a look.  He was honest with me and told me that the person who installed it had done a good job, but the filters needed to be replaced and I needed to put oil in my oil tank.

Of course, I do not listen and my oil burner dies again as I run out of oil on Christmas weekend.  I called Tom, who was kind enough to come over on Christmas Eve.  He brought over some oil and had to replace the filters again, due to the sludge that lies at the bottom of my oil tank.

He did an all around good job, and came to help me when I was in need.  I would recommend him to anyone who needs help with their oil burner.

I posted a review prior to this one, after meeting Tom and having him replace my water heater tank.  Since then (2 years now), I switched from a "big oil" service contract, dropping them,  purchasing my own oil based purely on price with no included "service contract" and usingTom on a "pay as you go" basis for service.  I will admit I was concerned about doing this, but, when I honestly evaluated my previous"big oil" service contract, I was getting less and less from them and, historically, I had a number of burner issues each season that took them 2 or more trips each time to eventually resolve.  With Tom, you do pay a bill for his yearly service, but, in my experience, it has been well worth it.  Unlike the "big oil" guys, who stopped doing routine cleaning and servicing unless you specifically called to schedule, and who remembers about that?...Tom is there for several hours and goes through everything, cleans everything and tests everything.  Since I hired Tom, I have had no downtime whatsoever with his yearly scheduled service visits.  Well worth my money, that's for sure.

Our oil burner wasn't working so we had no heat. We searched around for other companies to come out on a SUNDAY and they wanted upwards of $300 just to come to our house! Tom charged $125 to come out on the weekend, which we felt was fair and was here for about 2.5 hours diagnosing the problem and thoroughly cleaning and tuning the burner. He would come up periodically to let us know what he was encountering and discuss the price of the next step before he just went ahead and spent more time at our house. Very responsible, honest and professional. We felt his price was very fair and he was very clear in his communication. He also mentioned that the company's name will be changing to NORTH SHORE HEATING so if you can't find RELIABLE HEATING on Angie's list, look for NORTH SHORE HEATING.

Tom from Reliable Heating was very responsive when a number of other firms were not. He came to the house and diagnosed the problem along with the proper replacement equipment. He came the day after the tank arrived and replaced the leaking tank. Tom was professional, courteous and did a terrific job. I would recommend him to anyone.

Great. I used to have a contract with the another oil company to do the service, but this year, I decided to pay for the service and do a Spot Oil purchase. There's a world of difference between how Tom did the service and how the other company did it. Tom spent 2+ hours cleaning and replacing the filters. The other oil company had spent 5 minutes just looking at the burner last year. Since the cost of spot oil is always less than the yearly contract rate, (I look online), the $240 cost to get it serviced is just about equal to the savings from the spot oil purchase.
