They were terrific. They came on time and did the job. He even put booties on his shoes. He was courteous. We had something little that needed to be done; he let me know that it could be done now or later. I was impressed that they brought their own vacuum sweeper. He let me know that the gas setting was too high and that if he adjusted it a little lower then it wouldn't change the effectiveness of the heating system, but would save me some money on gas. They were a terrific company.

They were very unresponsive - had to call them 3x to get them over here. They came out eventually and told me that I needed more work - which I was happy to pay for. They never did give me an estimate so I essentially gave up. They are awful.

This is my second go around with Engelmans (see my prior contact with them in a different report). I made my appointment with a young lady in the office well in advance. I received a confirmation on my Saturday appointment from the office about four days before. They said that they could not give me an exact time so it was an all day appointment 8am-4pm.

We informed them that we had one of their coupons from Angies list which stated and quot;50% off a service calland quot; I printed the coupon.

Saturday came...no Engelmans. We called and left a few messages. Finally around 4pm, after we sat home on a beautiful day with our five year old waiting, we got a call from one of the technicians. Also bear in mind that my father-in-law was in intensive care and awaiting open-heart surgery and we needed to get to the hospital and I informed them of this as well. The technnician stated that we were not properly scheduled by the office clerk and he does not know what could have happened.

I told him that we waited all day, we need to get to the hospital and we'd like to have the AC serviced as soon as possible because it's getting hot and I have a small child. He stated that he could not come but he would come the following day (Sunday). This gentleman was courteous and understanding of our situation and he came to our home around 8am on Sunday. He said that he understood that Engelman's messed up and he would make sure they didn't and quot;rapeand quot; me. When I inquired what that meant he meant on pricing.

He did not have the necessary parts so he came back the following day. We could not be there while he worked because we were at the hospital so he worked on the AC and called to tell us it was fixed. The technician told me about some new law whereby my current R22 system will become obsolete and he suggested I replace both units with Trane units. I checked their prices against licenced Trane installers in our area and found that Engelmans was charging me about 40% higher than a Trane installer would charge. Additionally, they were charging about 10% more on freon gas then every other person I checked with. Come to find out their prices are extremely high when compared to other companies in the area that we researched.

We replaced the AC units with a licensed Trane installer, and saved $2,000. We informed Engelmans we are not using them for our new AC units. When the bill came for the service call, we did not get a break at all. $750 to replace two fuses and charge up the two units. No mention though of the coupon. When I stated I have the coupon they asked that I fax it over. They said its 50% off the service FEE not the service call. Apparently they did me a huge favor by not charging me the service call fee of $150 in addition to the $750, but they would cut me a break and discount me $75 because and quot;I'm a good customer.and quot;

To this I say, hey Engelman's, stop putting out misleading coupons!! I'm a lawyer so I am fairly positive that I can read at least at an 8th grade level. I am also trained to read between the lines and that is plain misleading.

Twice I have called upon Engelman's to provide service, twice I was left waiting and disappointed in the communication between employee and serviceman. I would not use them again.

He was excellent. He replaced a circuit breaker that was malfunctioning. The other person that I'd called wasn't able to figure it out.

I used Angie's List to select Engelmann's to fix a problem we were having with one heating zone not working. As luck would have it, it happened during a blizzard. This was not an emergency problem and since the storm was placing demands on every provider I didn't call the first day. I called the second day of the problem and by chance one of their technicians had another call down the street. They said they would be to me in about two hours. They arrived about three hours later, but I understand those times are approximate. On inspecting the boiler the technician saw that the feed line had been turned off. He turned it back on and checked the water pressure. At first it looked promising, but he then concluded that the line was frozen. He called his office to arrrange for a plumber to come out the next day to unfreeze the line. The charges for the visit were carried over the next day. After he left I turned on the thermostat and repeated the test he had performed and I got a flow of water that I had not gotten during my own investigation. I checked to see if there were any leaks and there were none and the heat was working once again. The good news is that he fixed the problem (the closed feeder valve). The system appeared to be starved for water. The bad news is that he could have stayed a little longer and done more testing with me (e.g., turn on the thermostat which I told him was off when he arrived) and see what happened. Had I not done my own follow-up testing, the plumber would have come out the next day, and hopefully he would have determined that the line was not frozen before cutting it. The company called back to check on what happened (good) and said there was no charge (better) because they "didn't do anything." Actually, they fixed the problem they just didn't test it out to realize it. They were timely, honest, followed up, and I would use them again and recommend them.

It took a little while to get in touch with them. They had some computer problems that prevented them from getting to us quickly. That was one off, but then it was fine. The price included an annual service. We signed an annual contract with them. I would tell a friend or a family member to go ahead and use them. It was fine. I got the referral from Angie's List. What made it fine was that although they had problems getting to us because of a major server crash, after that it was perfectly good. We just contact them by email and telephone and it's a friendly relationship. We had good interaction with the technician that came out. The quality was fine. We would use them again in the future.

Even though the office had computer troubles at the time I called they called back within 10 minutes to let me know a tech would be there in 1-2 hours. After 10 minutes I got another call asking me to detail the problem (I assume to figure out what to do BEFORE they got here), 20 Minutes later Tony called to let me know he was on the way and was in my driveway 15 minutes later. Tony confirmed my suspicions that the new board I bought (online) was faulty. He then instructed me how to operate my thermostat to make the system work until a new control board arived. He was courteous/proffesional and willing to answer all my questions and didn't give me a song and dance on how I need to replace the whole system like my original installer tried the last time he was here.I was very pleased with Engelmann.

Salesman, Chris. was prompt and polite for the initial estimate. He conducted a thorough inspection of our old system and,asked about family size, budget, lifestyle, and number of years we plan to remain in the house. He suggested replacing the entire system with the exception of the ductwork, which was consistent with the other 3 estimates we got. He made a number of suggestions,including systems in varying price ranges, and carefully explained the pros and cons among them. In the end we agreed that a mid-range system would be most suited to our needs. Work was done on schedule and completed in a day and a half. The crew was prompt, friendly, and worked efficiently. They cleaned up completely, and the company even replaced all the thermostats in the house(even those not related to the A C)- and sent a box of 12 filters.. Subsequent calls because of little glitches (like my not being able to figure out the thermostats) were met with immwdiate response-a man at my house that afternoon or next morning. We are very satisfied with Englemann!
