The lovely old Seth Thomas was bought new by my Great Grandmother. My Mother and Grandmother remembered it's chime during their childhoods, as I do from mine, but it had not run for many years. He said it had many worn parts which needed replacement, and it needed lubrication and adjustment. It works perfectly now. The grandfather Clock had begun to run for only 15 minutes at a time. Mr. Soemann said it was just out of adjustment and needed lubrication and service, since that hadn't been done in almost 10 years, since my old ''clock-man'' died. He was set to come to our house to fix it, as he does with all the big clocks, but then the dog knocked it over, bending the moon-dial, breaking the glass, knocking most of the numerals off the face, knocking the chime rods off, and who knows what else! So, he had me bring it to his shop. Within a month or so, he had it fixed good as new! (He said it was fixed faster than usual because it took up so much room in the shop!)
