"I find it curious that this review would show up a year after the customer and I mended our relationship. I think this may have more to do with me cancelling my paid advertising with Angie's List than a dissatisfied customer (since [Member name removed] and [Member name removed] are very satisfied and have been for over a year). I had head that Angie's List would post bad reviews if you stop spending money with them. I guess this confirms it. If anyone would like to hear the complete story regarding this rating, you can contact me directly. My information is still in my listing."
john responded promptly to my request for a estimate and also scheduled the work promptly.
john and the rest of the gentlemen that did the work were friendly and had a great sense of humour.
Best of all the floors looked fantastic !
John and his team arrived on-time Monday to begin work, wrapping up at 4:30pm or so everyday, until completing the job Wednesday evening. They repaired necessary areas in the floors, as well as adding an attractive shoe molding around the floors. John provided great communication throughout the job, providing text updates, as well as to ask necessary questions so that I could provide input on decisions, such as with the repairs and moldings.
"I had chosen to not respond to this review because there was implied promise of more work with this customer. Just to set the record straight - we worked at this house during a significant lake effect winter storm. We had to shovel our way into the house through 2' high snow drifts and shovel our way back out at the end of the day. We had to do this on both days. Here is a link to the official report on that storm. http://www.weather.gov/buf/lake1314_stormg.html There was a travel ban in effect for the city of Buffalo during this time. Part of the job was replacing some ugly old flooring (pergo, I think) that someone had put down. We installed new hardwood to match the existing floor. The original estimate did not include any trim molding in that area. I supplied it "no charge"."
"We refinished the kitchen for a co-worker of my wife's. The owner (me) was there for a phases of the job. I was the one who left a heavy spot of finish that showed up as a darker area near the edge of the floor. I went back to scrape and hand sand the area to blend it out. I always try the least invasive or disruptive method for repairs first. It didn't work for this situation. I offered to do a resand of the area but the home owner didn't want to have her kitchen tied up any longer. We had taken 1-1/2 days to refinish her kitchen - most other companies would take 3 or 4 days before the kitchen would be usable again. She didn't want to take an extra day to have the floor looking perfect but she did ask for a discount on the price. This was after I had already extended her a discount because she was a co-worker of my wife. I wanted to fix the floor; she wanted to pay less money. We obviously had different priorities. By the way, my crew and I were on both of the above jobs. I hire and train my crew as representatives of me. They work to my standards. I only have them do work that they are as capable of doing as I am. Their skill level on the segment of the job that they do will give you the same results as me doing that segment. Not every job comes off flawlessly; mistakes will happen, there will be things beyond our control but we will make every effort to correct these things. We are very proud of our reputation as craftsmen and guard that reputation by going above and beyond the norm to please our customers."
