"I apologize you didn't receive a prompt response to your phone call for services that you needed, but I have no record of a call or message from you. I make every effort to answer or return all calls promptly and would have done that with your call if I had received it. I would be happy to speak with you about this service if you would like to try to contact me again. Eric"
Maybe if they did that they would have more repeat customers. As like most contractors in the area, they just want your money and to never to see you again.
When i wrote my original review, i intentionally left out a comment made by Mr Valenza while he was at our house. This comment made me question him and required some further research...
When we called about one problem, we really had two problems. We figured that while he was making the call to fix one problem we could get him to fix the other problem. When we asked him about our kitchen sink.
us: "our kitchen faucet is actually dripping when it's in the off position, could you take a look at that too?"
MrValenza: "That brand? Delta? That's common with that brand of faucet. I'd only make it worse if i attempt to repair it.."
This is where i would expect Mr Valenza to suggest replacing the common spring/seal to fix the problem. Something so easy he could probably do it in his sleep.
Funny... myself, who has zero experience with plumbing was able to fix the leak.
His response led me to believe one of two things.
A, he was trying to sell us a new faucet (that we didn't need)
or
B, his $150 fee only included one repair, and that he would need to come back, charge us another $150 fee to replace the spring/seal
Mr. Valenza did reach out to me after reading this review, but the damage has been done (sorry!)
Since then we have moved on to a new service provider.
I'm sure Mr. Valenza does wonderful work when he's paid for a large contract. I'm sure he's the BEST plumber in the area. I'm sure his work is perfect and done by the book.
Think twice about hiring Mr Valenza for small work, because he's quick to take your payment and his visits are brief. Surely, this must be the "cost of doing business"
"Mr. [member name], I am sorry that you are not 100 satisfied with the work that was done on your bathroom lavatory. Allow me to address your concerns. - I charged you the minimum service call fee of $150. I wish I could charge less than that, but the cost of doing business does not allow it. - A service call includes travel time from shop/office to the customers house, on site time, as well as the return visit. The "10 minutes" is not all that is billed for. - We used a stainless steel, flexible supply hose which is better than a hard tube supply. I don't understand the "C" for quality. - I have and extremely high rate of return, satisfied customers. - I am quite certain that an educated consumer that has hired contractors to come to their home/business will see through your post and realize that I did the right job at a fair price. My only mistake was not giving you an estimate over the phone prior to my arrival. This would have prevented us from doing business in the first place. - I hope this sheds some light for you [Member name removed] and more importantly to the Angie's List Clients reading it. Thank you. Eric"
I wound up using another plumbing company, A. Stevens in Washingtonville, NY, a company that had performed work for me in another house about 20 years ago. I went with an electric hot water heater in a closet on the main floor of my house. The job was exactly what Valenza would have done, same equipment (Bradford-White heater), but was four hundred dollars ($400) cheaper than the estimate I received from Valenza.
