Michael with United waterproofing and construction just came to do an estimate on our house. I am very impressed with the thoroughness of the estimate. Every detail was accounted for and he even went through photos of what the process would like if done to include a walk through of all areas of the foundation and house that needed repair. His professionalism, attention to detail and knowledge were outstanding.

The scope of work that was performed did not match the estimate quoted and was way overpriced. I was put into a situation on the day the work was being performed of where I was told if additional work wasnâ t done they felt the work performed wouldnâ t hold and they would â look badâ so it was best if I had additional work done and pay an additional $3,600 for a job that was already budgeted at $3,600 and was overinflated already. I was also told if I didnâ t replace my chimney and it came crashing down it would cost me more money and could kill someone. I was being sold work on the spot while simply trying to have a drainage system put in place for two gutters that were right near each other on a raised dry laid stone patio. I was then told during the job to give cash for the work then and there. Not a credit card as shown on Angi. That I could go to the bank while work was being performed to get the cash. And if I wired the money, to do it immediately while work was still being performed, if possible. Work had not even been performed fully for a less than one day job and I was being pressured for immediate payment. I was then hounded to wire the money immediately after the work was completed given that I was told I couldnâ t pay with a credit card as advertised. The two workers worked very hard and did what was asked of them. Good men who have incredible work ethic. But the person who runs the company (the main company number is his mobile number) was not the level of professionalism and transparency I was presuming to get. He kept saying he had to speak to â the head officeâ for estimates he wanted to offer me and that they would garner his wages if I didnâ t pay him immediately. Meanwhile the office number is his mobile. There is no other number associated with this company and the business addresses are corporate office locations with no suite number affiliated that is affiliated with this company. My invoice that I said I needed and was not offered until I requested it, was sent to me electronically and was number â 6â . Yet the company supposedly has been around for a very long time. Clearly this is not the case. I was a project manager in super high end residential and commercial construction for over 14 years and never had the wool pulled over my eyes like this. Complete misrepresentation on Angi. $3,600 for a $1,300 job. First time I have ever written a review that was negative. I hated doing it but I donâ t want other homeowners to experience this. Truth and trust is all we have that separates us from the animals. I have spent over $250,000 on home improvements in the last 4 years and this was the first time I felt sick to my stomach with my interaction with a subcontractor. I value the work it takes to do these types of trades and always provide the respect to those who are on my property. Always. I go overboard to make them feel welcomed and offer drinks, food and to use the restroom facilities as often as needed. In return I simply ask for honesty and fair trade of services for money agreed to. I donâ t haggle. I accept if I believe itâ s a solid number and they know their trade and can handle their scope of work and payment type is agreed upon ahead of time. This was not the case at any point. So I am writing a public negative statement for the first time in hopes of preventing an experience I encountered.
