THE CONRAN SHOP

About 1.5-2 months after we purchased a dining table and 8 chairs, the Conran Store delivered the table (which we had been waiting for) without the chairs (which we had been told were in stock on the day of purchase). They did not call to set up a delivery appointment, instead just showing up on a day that I just happened to be at home. I complained to the store about this so they would know this was a glitch in their service. Repeated phone messages left at the store and personal visits to the store, resulted in being told that their phone messaging service was not working correctly and that was why my calls were not being returned, that the delivery company was "going to be changed" and that I "would get a call about the chairs. One day, I suddenly got a call from the delivery company saying they were outside my home with the chairs (I was at work because I had not been informed of the delivery). I called the Conran Shop and was given the name of Agnes, a manager. Again, I left a message complaining about what had happened and did not get a call back. I went in person with my husband 3 days later and, in desperation (because we really need the chairs to be able to sit and eat), decided to take the chairs ourselves rather than go through the moving company (we are scheduled to do this in 3 days). We tried to cancel two other chairs we had ordered and were told we had signed a contract that they are custom made and cannot be canceled. When we complained that we were having to spend all of our days in the store, the salesperson said: well, you need to get other activities (!) Overall: the worst furniture store experience we have EVER had.
