I will not go to a local vet anymore. Whether one of my cats has cancer and needs chemo, or has something less serious, this is the ONLY place to go for top quality pet care in NYC. Their ophthalmologist saved one of my cat's eyes. Their orthopedic surgeon saved any cat's knee. I could go on and on...

My cats have been treated by loving and super competent doctors. I wish all of my own human doctors had the same level of compassion, competence, etc.

Charlie's care by Dr, Bond was superb and enriched and extended his life. Also have brought other pets and rescues in over the years and every doctor was outstanding. The prices are reasonable and I have never waited long for an appointment - they are on time for your visit almost to the minute.

Terrific. If I ever have a major illness, I don't know that I'll find doctors that will be as caring and dedicated as the vets at the AMC. Yes, it can be very expensive. But my cats are members of my family. I don't cut corners when it comes to their care.

They kept my cat alive for 5 years when he had lymphoma.  They are experts and they really care. Scheduling an appointment is simple.

I've used them for 14 years. They're really phenomenal. I really think that they saved my dog's life a couple of times. I have gone to other places and they just sent her home. People from all over go to this place. I feel so secure with them. The bills are high.

They took better care of my dog than doctors take care of people. They called me when she was under anesthesia, they called me when she woke up, they called me before she went to bed. I didn't have that when my son was operated. If you have any kind of surgical procedure done, at least have a consultation over there.

Animal Medical Center is awesome! It is absolutely awesome. It's like a regular hospital, but for animals. They were so great with our dog, and I was very impressed. They were expensive, but we needed the emergency service. They were excellent, and professional. I have never seen a set up like this. It's just like going to the hospital, except it was for animals!

My cat was sick. I took him to the normal vet, and she recommended the Animal Medical Center. The vet at the Animal Medical Center said she couldn't do uniting unless they sedated him. I let him be sedated, and they said he was sick and had cancer. They offered to let me keep him in the center, but I said no I wanted him at my home. They gave me pills to give him, and I gave him the pills at home. I don't know why they would give pills when they knew he is a very feisty cat. He bite me and my hand became swollen. I had to have 27 stitches and an operation. I wrote them a letter saying that I wasn't going to pay for the bill since they gave the pills, which caused me to have to go to the hospital and have surgery. They said the bill is under review, but 4 months later it is not being reviewed. I would not recommend to anyone. They are overpriced, and the wait time is long (I waited 3 hours before my cat was seen.)

The surgery turned out excellent and the staff was EXCELLENT! They gave me follow-up calls and let me know how the cat was doing pre and post surgery. I can't say how grateful I am to the staff at this medical center. I knew going in it was going to be costly and they don't deny they are expensive but when it comes to alleviating pain to your beloved pet, the money is worth it. It was a good investment as he is still very young and has many years to live. It's only been 4 days since the surgery and he is happy and walking around although with a limp but that will diminish as he regains strength. The vets said he will make a complete recovery as long as I give him physical therapy after his 2 week recovery period to ensure he doesn't lose function in that leg.

As sad as it was for me, they made me feel comfortable, and allowed time to say goodbye in a good environment.

My mother had to take the cat back because the test shows my cat had some other issues. Those were the only 2 times we have been there. The vet was very good with my terrified cat. He was very gentle and kind. He obviously loves animals, which is what you want in a vet. The staff was very friendly. I remember I had to make a call on their land line and they were very nice about that. This was my first time at a vet so I really do not have anything to compare it to but I thought the price was okay. It was very nice of the vet to be so candid about referring me to another facility for lower priced care for the cat as well as teeth cleaning. I thought that was nice.

I have used them several times. The last three times were emergencies and they charged me anywhere between $200.00 and $500.00. We had to do x-rays and those are expensive and also the fact that they were emergencies. I think they are wonderful. They are efficient and they are nice. They listen. I can't think if anything wrong is there. Everybody from the people you see when you walk in the door to the various vet techs and vets is nice. Even the pharmacy people are sweet and help you figure out how to get pills down your cat. We haven't lived here long enough to know whether or not emergency vet services should cost more. They are very punctual even in an emergency. They specifically try to talk you out of unnecessary procedures. They try and suggest that we try other ways. I will be taking one of my cats for teeth cleaning soon.

Our cat had been ill for several days, but I'd been avoiding any vet because we are new in town and we've all been stressed with the move. I called his previous vet earlier that week and she also felt that his diarrhea might be due to stress (new environment, new litter box). We were seen immediately by the receptionist, asked to wait in triage briefly, seen by a lovely vet tech, who took a brief history and took our cat back for an exam. We then sat down to wait. It wasn't 15 minutes before the veterinarian on call took us to the exam room to ask more questions and explain what they'd already done to diagnose the source of the tummy upset. He was very clear, was careful to explain all costs, and tried to explain how to treat conservatively rather than running up expensive tests. When I asked about ultrasound over x-ray, he explained why that would be an unnecessary expense at this point and recommended against it. At all times, however, he was willing to do whatever would also have made me feel better about the diagnostics. In the end, after I specifically asked for an x-ray to rule out something scary the cat had ingested, it turned out to not be an emergency (i.e., no ingested string) and we were sent home with inexpensive, effective antibiotics and a fast for 24 hours. It was truly an amazing experience. It felt like a human hospital, but more efficient and less expensive.

The vet was wonderful in providing all the options available (VERY COSTLY). I made the decision to have him euthanized because his quality of life was being compromised and he was 14.5 years old and I did not want to be left financially destitute. With all the tests performed and ending up with a dead cat, the total cost was $620. For a 'non-profit' they are very costly but their service was excellent! I guess given the Manhattan location and real estate, they have to charge higher prices. It is not my regular place where I take my pets for their medical needs but it is a place for emergency situation, and just know going in, that it will be a VERY EXPENSIVE visit.

I was impressed with the empathy levels at this particular vet. Putting an animal down is never easy and one of the things people look for are vets that are good at handling death. They really are here. Now, some people might want to know that this is a nonprofit organization. They do offer internships to students from what I understand. That helps to explain why the prices are fairly expensive. Actually, I would call them incredibly expensive now that I think about it. They are a top notch facilities though and you are absolutely going to get your money's worth.

I use them as my vet also. I just love them dearly. They are very nice and they do a very nice job. They are a little high priced. I am planning on finding another vet because of their pricing. I do not want to say anything bad about them, because they are very good. They just charge a lot.
