Savage Organizing

As a busy mom, I made the choice to hire a professional organizer to help me with my move. I ended up hearing about Elizabeth Savage through an online mom?s group (upper west side first time mom?s ~ yahoo group). I reached out to her, and spoke to her on the phone. At the end of a short conversation, she offered to make an appointment to see us, and talk about what our needs were. She sent me an email after this conversation, with an attachment I never opened ~ see the comments about being a busy working mom earlier. She showed up slightly late, and unprepared, for our meeting. She later provided me with a bare outline (with few details) as to what our move plan would eventually be. As a result, my husband and I decided to go in another direction I later informed her of our decision, at which point she sent me a bill. I found this shocking as she had NEVER discussed this to be a paid visit ~ despite multiple opportunities to do so. She didn?t mention it on the phone, in the body of the email, or in fact, during the visit itself. She defends her actions (and now her threat to report me to a credit agency) as it was mentioned at the bottom of an attachment in her email. Unfortunately it was an attachment I never opened. As this was apparently a paid visit, I am reporting this on angies list as I have been forced to pay for her services. However, this is a definite ethical violation and who wants a professional organizer that lacks ethics?

I have hired a few other professional organizers in the past, and while they were competent, their work -- and work ethic -- weren't even in the same category as Liz's. I will continue to hire her whenever I can -- and I give her my highest recommendation.
