From the onset, Shane did a great job helping to answer all my questions and quickly scheduling time for Kieran to come out to our apartment to provide a quote. The price was competitive and we chose to move forward.
A few days before the move we ran into a bit of a challenge due to our building double booking moves, which caused some issues with elevator access. I called Shane and he quickly helped course correct the situation and was able to work around the scheduling mandated by our building despite the inconvenience.
The day of the move the crew was excellent. They were efficient and professional from start to finish. After sitting in traffic heading to our new home in Connecticut, the crew foreman was very apologetic upon arrival (obviously beyond their control) and they quickly unloaded the truck and starting helping us get situated. The team also went above and beyond in my opinion. At one point we had no light in one of the bedrooms and a crew member took out his iPhone flashlight to assemble our bed. When all was said and done not one broken or damaged item ? pretty impressive.
Overall, very pleased with my experience and would definitely use Redline again in the future.
The most impressive part, however, came a month later when my landlord returned only half my move-in desposit, claiming that there were "scatches" or damages in the hallways from the move. First of all, I did not notice any scratches or damages. Secondly, I'm pretty sure that my new landlord was just nickel-and-diming me (she said that the scratches had since been fixed/painted so she could poitn them out). I asked for a receipt of the work done so I could forward it to Redline for insurance purposes, which I did. The whole situation seemed very suspicious as there was no evidence of damage, no photographic proof of damage, and only a "receipt" showing a few hundred dollars worth of work done by a contractor. Redline said their insurance would not accept that documentation, but they did not want me to be out money for something that was not my fault -- so as a courtesy they simply sent me a check to cover the amount of money that my landlord had withheld from my move-in deposit. VERY CLASSY MOVE. These guys have integrity. Bottom line. Can't recommend Shane, Kieran, and everyone at Redline more.
This company is a model of excellence in service. From our initial contact until the last good bye more than 14 hours after the GENTLEMEN arrived, the least stressful part of this very stressful event was the Redline Moving personnel. From my initial contact with Shane, all was easy and stress free regarding the physical move. Kieran was in touch numerous times, either to communicate as promised, or in response to my many phone calls. During a couple on the weekend preceding our move, he sounded awful-and he admitted to having the flu. In response to my advice to take care of himself, he said emphatically- "I have clients who depend on me".
Each man who assisted us seemed to project that intention; each was professional and courteous. What stood out for me was their obvious mutual respect; they made a very large move and chaotic day seem like a walk in the park due to their cheerful and calm demeanors. Their attitudes were influential on, and in harmony with my own..... I am so glad I found Redline through Angie's list!
The only complaint I have is that I now have to unpack and organize . Maybe the next venture should be a Redline post moving service!! Kieran and Shane?
Broken furniture. Some of my stuff didn't make it on the truck and I found it in my old apt. They left some of their big blankets/padding materials at the new apt. Didn't put items in correct rooms. All they wanted to do was leave as fast as possible. They left a significant amount of trash at both ends -- at the old and new place. And didn't respond when I asked them to remove it.
The office DID offer to come and fix one of the pieces of furniture (the first piece I noticed). Unfortunately, their timing didn't work with my schedule. Since then I've been surprised at the number of major scratches and divots I've found. In addition, they removed one of the legs of my sofa to get it out the front door (I was kind of surprised they would do that without checking with me first). That would have been okay, except they didn't properly put it back on the sofa. They just kind of stuck it there. And in the process the hardware got bent -- leaving the leg severely damaged.
In the first two minutes of arriving that morning, the lead guy told me the tip amount they expected. Still can't believe I gave them one at all.
The surprising part -- I choose a top-rated company and it was the worst move I've had in three NYC moves.
I do not recommend this company. It was a huge disappointment.
