Ray assured me the project would take only 2 weeks.  I gave him a 50% deposit, which he said was required.  3 days into the project, while my bathroom was fully gutted, he demanded another 25% payment.  I refused because less than 30% of the work was done.  I told him I would only pay him the 25% progress payment after 75% of the work was done.  He threw a fit and tried to bully me by threatening to abandon the project.  He then directed his crew to start applying tile to the wall, without having first properly prepare the wall to make it flat and plumb to allow for proper tile installation.  When I saw the inferior work, I had to fire him and hire another contractor to do the work all over again.  It was a complete nightmare.
