He advised that I could go there on my own to see it as it was empty and the doorman would allow me in. I looked at the apartment, I loved it, called him on the spot and said I wanted it. He indicated there was another application in already but he'd push mine to the top. He told me about the paperwork I needed to get together and how and when to get it to them, which I did. As I'm following up about the information, I was put in touch with Jennifer. Avi was no longer available. Jennifer tells me that I was not properly advised about the price, the paperwork or the information and that Avi was mistaken. It takes a crazy amount of information to lease an apartment in NYC. I'd made a couple of calls to Jennifer who had indicated she was in charge of this apartment building. When I delivered the information to her she kept telling me I wasn't giving her what she'd asked for but I had. I followed the directions to a T and she continually made the gathering difficult. My fiance, from California whose name will also be on the lease, had also called and spoken with Dee. He actually had a positive conversation with her and she'd advised that the information provided seemed to be ok and that she was above Jennifer. She indicated she was actually training Jennifer. When I called back again and Jennifer answered I told her I wanted to speak with Dee. She refused to connect me with Dee and stated that Dee was just the Office Manager. I asked about the status of the application and it was at this time that she told me that we had not been approved. This comment invited a lot of discussion as to why. She indicated two reasons why we were rejected; neither of which she could support. I asked to speak with a Manager. She said that was Rachel and NO, I could not speak with her. I asked to speak in a three way conversation with my fiance, Jennifer and myself. She finally agreed. I made the call and when I connected Jennifer said Rachel was going to join us as well. I asked if Rachel could make the three way call from her phone. She said no. Eventually all 4 of us were on the phone. At that time, Rachel said "I understand you have questions about an apartment you applied for that has already been taken." That was the first time I knew the apartment was no longer available. We were battling over a mute point! They'd given the apartment away to someone else during the entire time, days, we were running around providing the information that they demanded. There was a lot of unnecessary bickering with Jennifer who obviously had been lying to me about the entire process. She was impossible to deal with. She was an extremely hostile, unprofessional, poorly trained employee that was poorly representing this company. I feel the entire processs was unnecessary and that I had been lied to.
