They came out and looked at the cabinets and said they'd be following up with an estimate and I never heard back from them since.

Do keep calling them.  They communicate badly on the phone and set schedules slowly.  Many times they do not answer the phone or return calls.  They never gave us references when we asked for them.
When they do schedule a time, they come on time and perform the work in an efficient manner.
They have a good sense of design and do not try to sell you something you don"t want.  They listen well to your needs.
Their follow-up is not good, so be sure that everything is right before they leave and the job is finished.

From start to finish they did a superlative job. They were on time, and got it done in less than the time they had estimated. They cleaned up very well when they left and were respectful of my property. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Sam and his cfrew to anyone.

We selected a cabinet door style and arranged for a measurement at our apartment, which was arranged within a week or so. Marshall turned out also to be the measurer and only comes after he closes the showroom at 5 pm. After he measured our kitchen, we asked him to quote us a price, not having any idea what the cost of re-facing is. He insisted that we come back into the showroom for that. We have just moved and are extremely busy and didn't see why we needed to come in again yet, since we had already selected the cabinets we wanted. We called him the next day to ask him again for a price, which he refused to give us. He asked if we were shopping around and we said yes, whereupon he said we should come back to him when we have a price from someone else! I have never encountered such a thing before. It's one thing to negotiate, it's another not even to give people an initial price quote. (We called Home Depot's re-facing service - they came the next day and gave us a quote on the spot.) We were so turned off by this behaviour we would never use Nu-Facers.

Natural stone flooring was installed over existing ceramic tile instead of removing ceramic tile as was called for in the contract. Cabinet re-facing was slipshod. Many flaws in installation of all aspects of the job. Very sloppy job.

Chris and Hector Cantillo (917.420.5670) were very good. Nu-F lied: tried to force me into using the WRONG GRANITE that they cut IN ERROR. Nu-F DID NOT HAVE PLUMBER'S OR ELECTRICIAN'S INS; this cost me an ADDITIONAL $2,000 (over NU-F charges of 19k) and time delays; Nu-F said they would not refund my 1/3 deposit when I tried to cancel 3. Marshall Jacobowity (Nu-F), European Granite of Brooklyn and Sam (Nu-F head installer) said they had no record of the granite I picked. Nu-F didn't put up $500 deposit to hold it for me; I had to re-visit the Brooklyn quarry to pick out another granite piece Nu-F senior installer, Sam, was arrogant and flippant claiming that I lied about the original granite choice - when I produced evidence, I never heard from him again, nor did Nu-Facers' ever call to followup with me to see if Chris and Hector's work was completed properly.

Did not go well. The initial work was beyond shoddy. Workmen left early, leaving a mess and materials behind as evidence of the work not completed. Doors were seriously out of alignment, and there was discoloration around every single door (which they claimed was glue). It took a few visits to have the job completed. Sam promised to make it right and was pleasant, but brought back the workman who specifically did the horrible job in the first place. The owner himself stood me up at the last minute for our very first scheduled follow up appointment, and was very rude. Though they ultimately fixed almost everything I pointed out, it required several visits and for me to be home from work, and was still far from what I would have expected for $5,000. Theres a reason they demand full payment upfront.

Nu-Facers salesman arrived promptly to look at the job and was able to give an estimate at the same time. I was not prepared to begin the work at once and received a few phone calls to finalize the project. Finally I was ready to begin and signed an agreement with Nu-Facers for my kitchen to be redone. Their workmen arrived as scheduled and stayed with the job until it was completed. But I did not find their workmen to be craftsmen of any kind. They always seemed rushed to finish and get on to another job. The final result looks OK but their are many flaws in workmanship that remain. The crown molding on the cabinets do not come together properly at corners. One of the doors does not close properly. I did go through a punch list with the workmen and they did correct the items on the punch list but other things surfaced after that I did not see before. The work area and the surrounding area was left a mess each day and even at the end of the job. They only did a quick clean-up.

When I opened it on of them fell down completely. I noticed that they put spring latches on the others and used different screws on this one. I called them and he said he would send someone over for $75 because I am no longer under warranty. I said it is your original work and he said never mind.

This was an excellent experience beginning with the sales process and ending with the actual installation. Sam, the installer, did a terrific job. He provided numerous helpful recommendations, was very easy to deal with, cleaned up at the end of each day, and completed this high-quality project in the expected timeframe (one week). Since the granite countertop accounted for a substantial portion of the price, we believe that the entire job was priced very reasonably. We feel that we have a brand new kitchen. I would highly recommend Nu-Facers and Sam in particular.

It is so unusual for contractors to give you a date and actually meet that date. They said they would do it in 2 1/2 weeks and they did.

THE WORK THEY DID WAS SHODDY AND I WAS NOT HAPPY WITH THE RESULTS. THEY DID WORK FOR A FRIEND OF MINE AND SHE DID RECOMMEND THEM TO ME. I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED BECAUSE THEY DID A BETTER JOB FOR HER THAN THEY DID FOR ME.

I THINK THIS COMPANY DID A GOOD JOB. THE COST DID SEEM HIGH, BUT IT WAS WORTH IT. THEY SET THE APPOINTMENT AND ARRIVED ON TIME. THEY WENT RIGHT TO WORK, AND THE TUB LOOKS BETTER THAN NEW.

THEY ARE NON-RESPONSIVE. THEY WERE JUST TERRIBLE AND I HATED IT. THE WORK WAS FAIR, BUT WHEN WE COMPLAINED ABOUT SOMETHING, THEY WERE VERY RUDE TO MY WIFE AND SAID OBSCENITIES TO HER. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THEM.
