A nice looking finished remodel of my neighbor's apartment turned out to be no guarantee - or even a good indication - that the neighbor's architect would be appropriate for my project. I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted design-wise, but Fetner seemed to be under the delusion that he was designing for Architectural Digest, not me. He remained convinced that he knew what was best, and found numerous excuses to ignore my repeated requests. He INSISTED on specifying appliances and fixtures of his own choosing, despite my clearly telling him that I knew what I wanted. This struck me as very inappropriate for an architect. I finally came to the conclusion that he was never going to listen and terminated our contract. An additional nuisance was that he was very reluctant to communicate via e-mail, and he provided lame excuses for this as well.
Description of Work: I hired Fetner to create architectural plans for the interior renovation of my living room and kitchen. He spent plenty of time with me in my apartment discussing what I wanted. What he came up with on paper, however, was overly weighted with his own ideas. What I got for my $14,000 (each payment of which I paid in full, on demand, and without argument) was a set of plans detailing built-in bookcases, storage cabinetry, and a kitchen. These appeared to have been cut and pasted from previous projects, as they included numerous items which he had never discussed with me and that I did not want, such as a new built-in doorbell(!!). I will not use any of this. The only drawing I can use is a half-size rendering of the apartment as-is, because it has measurements. But, these measurements are hard to read and divided up into small sections.
