About us

Established in 2003, Knickerbocker Auto Transport started out as a local tow company hauling dealer cars to and from the local auto auctions. With the introduction of eBay Motors and the boom of the internet automobile buying craze, Knickerbocker expanded its operations to include terminal services and long haul transports. Primarily concerned with vehicles shipping to and from southern Connecticut, New York, New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania, we initially tested out several other markets including shipping vehicles to Texas, shipping cars to California and Arizona, as well as servicing "snow birds" who transported their vehicles back and forth to Florida. Since then, we have expanded our fleet to include ultra-modern equipment and have added additional runs which service locations such as Illinois, Colorado, Washington, and Oregon. If our trucks are not capable of shipping your vehicle, we have the ability to use our trusted partners to help move your automobile anywhere in the country or throughout the world. If you are moving a car or a boat, an RV or a motorcycle, whether its heading to Hawaii or Alaska, the Virgin Islands or Puerto Rico, we are your one stop shop for all things transport related. Bait and switch. I requested a quote on the website and asked for expedited service for more than two months from when I made the request. Eric Sailor called me and told me the rate would be significantly higher. When I asked why the website said something different he started becoming very irate and stating that I should have known the rate would be higher given the pandemic. I explained that the pandemic had been going on for a year and that the website should be updated. He then began criticizing me for booking through the website. He is also not a carrier as the website states, he is a broker- another falsehood. Worst experience I have had while planning for this move.

Overall it was excellent. within 2 hours of calling them, I had a quote which I accepted. A little above another i had gotten but the other couldn't find a carrier which would meet the price quoted. Knickerbocker arranged the pick up of the car to occur in a very convenient location in Secacus, NJ close to public transportation. The driver of the transporting truck was courteous. The car was delivered in California within the 3 day delivery window I had requested. Eric at Knickerbocker was very professional, knowledgeable and helpful. Everything went just as he said. This is afirst rate outfit. i would never consider using anyone else.
