Jane Mogel Interior Design

Unfortunately my experience with Jane was not a positive one. She is very knowledgeable of furniture vendors and if you're looking for someone to help you shop, can probably be an asset. But if you're looking for someone to provide a comprehensive design plan for a room, help pull together a finished look, or make recommendations for contractors of any kind, I'd advise you to look elsewhere. Hundreds of dollars later, the only changes in my house are ones I handled myself. In almost six months of working together, I never received anything other than a few pictures of incredibly expensive furniture options - none of which were to my taste because Jane did not know how to view any of the Pinterest boards I pulled together for her to reference. Incredibly frustrating, especially given how Jane presented herself initially. Ultimately, I chose to terminate the relationship, even though I knew I would be out much of the money I foolishly paid up front. It was an expensive mistake. Hopefully this review can save you from making the same one.

We wanted something great but didn't know how to get there. Jane did a phenomenal job on every room. On time, on budget. Amazing advice. And she handled all of the installers, painters, deliveries, etc. It was like stepping into a personal design seminar. We bought an apartment where the walls were white and the floors needed work. She suggested warm colors (gold in the living room, dynamic red in the dining room). She also changed the floors to a dark brown espresso color which complemented the warm wall colors beautifully. She also chose beautiful furniture and window treatments for all of the rooms. She also updated the lighting, helped us choose rugs, carpets, and window treatments. Her fee structure was transparent, and fair. Would I recommend Jane? 100%.

Jane and I are still working together, we started earlier in the year, we are about 95% done.  I love working with Jane, she picked up quickly what my tastes is, but also helped me to think outside the box.  She is creative, and has great taste, she listened to me, and never tried to push her taste on me.  I don't know what that other reviewer was talking about, I definitely did not like some of choices, and she worked very hard to come back with options I loved.  I loved the fact that she is in the City, and can be here to accept delivery, and hand window treatments when I am at work.  I will have Jane on my speed dial for years to come!

Very well - I love the furniture and light fixture we found. She followed up on the furniture, scheduled the delivery and came over to be there when they arrived.  I hope to meet with her again to keep the process going.. 
Still a few things to check off the list that I'll need Jane's help with.

It went fine. It was for two hours. I found them on Angie's List. She was very professional, friendly and nice. We have different styles. Her opinions were probably proper and correct but it wasn't necessarily in my case. For what she does, she was realistic about the project but I wasn't ready to fit in using the kind of budget she was talking about. I can basically go to a store which offers those things for free. It was very nice. For her taste, she has done a great job. She's good at what she does. She did more of an introduction to continue using her service. I felt like the two hours I was hoping to walk away with an idea of a spatial design. She needs to hone on my style versus hers if she wants to work with clients. I basically ended up doing the same thing through a retailer who offered a free service. She did know what she was talking about. She seemed educated. She offered a way more formal design service than I'm interested in spending.

I have a dining room that needs updating.  Jane recommended the correct colors to select in addition to some wallpaper.  She provided samples of each on her next visit and we are in contact with each other as to when the renovation can begin.  I felt very happy with the choices she helped me select.

It's still a work in progress and Jane and I still have work to do, but she has been very responsive and has suggested and found lots of great design solutions for me. I definitely will be doing more work with her.

I've never used a service like this before, and it is very clearly not for me.  I had hoped to have someone really discuss how to make my home more functional.  I was hoping for suggestions on flow and storage and how to make my home work better.  Instead, it felt like she was really only there to sell me more products.  I felt like she was interested primarily in a commission.  I'd paid for a 2-hour consultations and I would say she spent about 45 minutes.  I didn't have a lot of specific suggestions--I more wanted general ideas.  She criticized my sofa, which is the only furniture I've ever bought full-price, with exactly what I wanted, so our taste was very different.  She suggested I buy more things (through her suppliers, so she could get a commission) but I didn't feel like I got any suggestions (other than lowering the height of some of my artwork).  But I've never used an interior designer before so maybe that is all they can do.  I doubt I will ever pay to do something like this again!

It was adequate service for what we wanted.  Choosing a designer is subjective based on taste in style and decor.  Jane was professional and pleasant, and had the resources to find what we were looking for, but I think our tastes in design were different.

I didn't really get what I expected from it. She came for an hour and said that she would send me additional information, which I never received. I didn't follow up on her myself but I don't think I would use her service again. She came pretty soon after I purchased the big deal. She showed up on time. She has a nice personality and I liked her when I met her. I was thinking she should stay within her own style but I wouldn't want that kind of style in my home. She was professional but she didn't followup on what she said she was going to do.

The service went poorly. She spent about 20 minutes at my home. She told me she would send a sketch and come back since she did not spend the full 2 hours at my home. I never heard back from her and never received the design. I never followed up with her, however.  I also feel like she was trying to sell me a lot of high priced furniture. I had no problem scheduling the deal but it was postponed a few days because of weather.

Each project was accomplished with the utmost attention to quality and detail and delivered on time. Jane made our apartment into a home that brings pleasure every time we enter.   We look forward to calling Jane and her team for any future design needs.

Though I'm still in the middle of my design project (which is why there are zeroes in the cost section), I had to take a minute to recommend Jane Mogel Interior Design. Jane is amazing! Not only does she have a fabulous eye for space and detail, and a terrific knack for finding just the right piece or design house, but she is wonderful to work with and a lot of fun to spend time with - which is really important when undertaking a sometimes-overwhelming process like, oh, redoing one's entire house. She's not at all pushy or demanding, and she works at MY pace which is, admittedly, on-and-off...but Jane is right there with me, whenever I'm ready. Seriously - if you can get her: GRAB HER! You won't be sorry!!!

She is very nice and very professional. I didn’t care for her suggestion so I didn’t pursue it further. We have different case. It was two hours for whatever I paid.  After the first hour, I didn’t use the second hour. I think the pricing was fair. I didn’t have an estimate. She was fine. She came when she said she was going to come. She made some suggestions.

Replacing fabrics and rugs in our home can be an overwhelming experience.  There are so many problems to be addressed, so many choices and so many people whose opinions need to be respected.  Jane was added into this mix and made the process so much more fun.  She kept the potential for me to feel overwhelmed to a minimum.   She was invariably on time, aware of the goal of each meeting, and she calmly expressed her opinions which helped me make my decisions.  We just had a good time, but never lost our focus. 
Jane has a clear sense of what works together and the reason they do so.  She has a complete knowledge of the process, the options available and she has access to workmen who can do the jobs.  She is the essence of skill and professionalism.  Put this together with responsiveness to my wishes, and you get a wonderful blend of professionalism and support.  
I can give my whole-hearted endorsement to Jane for any decorating and design needs.

Jane Mogel did not have any very original ideas. I showed her things I was considering and she basically just agreed. She seemed stuck when I told her my budget constraints as she was leaning towards custom designs and high end resources. Jane did not seem to be able to help with ideas or resources that were more "practical' like washable fabrics or cleanable surfaces. It was obvious this was necessary given the fact that my apartment is adjacent to a major active construction site and contractors were working on the day of the appointment and the dirt infiltration was obvious. The light fixtures Jane recommended and that I subsequently ordered did not provide enough light and original fixtures were better. Although Jane committed to sending me more information after our meeting there was no follow up. The hand written notes she left were incomplete and not very legible. Finally, the session was supposed to be 2 hours long but was finished in 90 minutes I was disappointed but lesson learned you get what you pay for
