Two men came to service my HVAC. I had specified way beforehand exactly which model number my unit was, and had asked for them to come prepared to add freon and power wash the unit.
When they arrived, they did not have the power wash machine nor the freon, and they charged me $450 just for the visit alone.
When i called the main office to complain, the manager was unbelievably rude and literally started yelling at me. She did not find the price too high for the service and said that in order to get the job done, her workers would need to come back, and that i would be charged again at least as much.
This business is very unprofessional and way too pricey.

I called for an estimate to fix a residential PTAC unit, which are not common in Manhattan pre-war apartments like mine. I found the company to be expensive, not very transparent in terms of pricing, and uninterested in a small repair job like mine, even though they advertise small repairs as a service. I quickly learned that in this industry, it costs money to just get an estimate, so basically you will use whatever company you first call because it it cost-prohibitive to shop around. I felt that I got a hard sell from a friendly sales person, and once they had my business, the responsivity went way down. However, I did use them last summer and they did repair my PTAC and I have no complaints about the technician or the repair. Aside from the price tag, which was around $400 for a 20-minute service visit.
This season, a PTAC in another room in my apartment needed repair. I called Interstate and left a message with the sales desk, but this year they did not even call me back.
My sense is that this company is not very interested in small one-off repairs, and is aiming at large installation/ service contracts for big developers and condos. While the technical service was good, I just don't think they want small jobs like mine.
